Newbie Questions!

Hello all,

I am currently looking at a 1984 Honda VF500F with 45,000 miles in excellent condition. The bike is about 1.5 hours from me so the gentleman and I have been chatting over the phone and he sent me tons of pictures. Before I make the road trip out to look at the bike and possible buy it, I have a couple questions.

What is the average life span on these motors? Even if the motor was well taken care of, should I worry? In great to excellent condition is the price right at $1,500?

I am 5'6" 160 pounds with a 28" inseam. I have been playing sports since I was 5 years old and I have very muscular/thick thighs. Will I have a problem with the height of the bike? I have sat on a 84 VF750F and I could barely touch, is it smaller than the 750?

Lastly, the guy says it runs perfect but it can use a full carb cleaning. How much does this run on average?

Thank you very much for your time.

Just to give you an idea...
carb cleaning on a 96 was about 3 hours of labor at $80/hour.
