    Bad Break...

Had a low-/no-speed 'happening' last night...

A stretch-pantsed *#$@'#!! at Wal-Mart managed to back her SUV over my 97 VFR and push it off the center stand on to it's side (and you can really tell it's 900+ pounds dead lifting them!)

Didn't really do any damage except as pictured below - the peg bracket hit the parking space barrier-thing and...

Any chance that can be fixed short of replacing the frame??

you have their insurance info right? make sure your frame is true if they actually backed over the bike. Or were you just saying they backed into your bike?

OMG I feel for you, damn crazy Walmart folks, why is it they seem not to give a damn when it come to parking lot problems WAKE UP!! people. You did get their insurance info? I'd be going that route if it was me, this ain't right. Grab em by the titties and make em pay. Only thing here with that sort of damage the insurance route will total your bike. but you can buy it back if that's in the books to do. Yes that can be fixed by a number of means but it won't be easy depending on what kind of job you want to make out of it. The frame at last check was $1700 at Service Honda, then there's the labor which is why it gets totaled.

Damn this pisses me off.. &^%$!!

I feel for ya bak...had similar incident several years ago when a drunk coming out of a gentlemen's club hit my bike, broke the TBR CF pipe, shoved it over the stand into another bike that fell onto another bike that fell onto a car. Hit & run.

Hope you get the insurance but make them pay YOU to fix it, not total it out because you are not going to get squat. Maybe after the check comes, find one where the frame has a clear title but a blown engine or something off e-bay or craigs list.

Maybe even some JBInstaweld may hold it. Looks like frame damage to it. That would be a total.

    Repair

I would think it easily repaired ,but insurance company will most likely total it over this.If I can lend a hand with repairs let me know.

A good welder can fix it easily....if you can find one.

It's best to find a safer parking spot away from the morons and idiots and half-blind senior citizens.

    Update...

Unfortunately, it was a hit and run, I got some video from the WalMart parking lot camera but no plate ID... She just barely nudged it over off the center stand and didn't seem to have actually run it over... (small favors)

Funds (lack thereof) dictate that the first attempt was the 5-inch C-clamp and J.B. Weld for 4 hours this afternoon... Bracket lined right back up with just a hair of reaming the upper bracket mount... I put it up on the center stand and hopped my 170# ass up and down on just that peg and it seems to have held... I'll keep a close eye on it over the next few days and I Red Loctite's the bolt in the good part of the frame just for good measure... I traced down a 97 frame in a junkyard here in Dallas for 350$ if it doesn't work...

I hate WalMart - had to go because my daughter needed a School Uniform shirt and the next closest plac would have made her late to her function... *sigh* That's what I get for parking in a Handicapped spot, you know those people can't drive, hell, they can't walk! (Don't Boo, I have cripple plates <grin> -- waiting for my personalized ones -[ NOT A ,wheelchair symbol goes here> ] LOL! I'll post pics of it when it gets in!)

The doctor finally relented and approved me getting a bike again, I was in a coma after a botched surgery for 2 years and have spend the last 18 months proving all the doctors that said I would be wheel chair bound from there out wrong... Still walking a bit gimpy and need my pimp cane, but really enjoying being back on the bike - if this doesn't sideline it, not a lotta funds for toys on Disability ;)

So in the video did the person hit and just run, or did the person hit, get out of the car, look and then run? Just curious.

Sorry for your loss, one of the reasons I carry comprehensive on my policy (I can't afford collision). I'm figuring one of these days I'll hit an animal, bike get stolen or something equally as stupid.... 100 dollars gets me a new bike. Not that I wish that on my bike... but if it happens I won't want to kill myself over it.

    ...

She got out and took a look, looked both ways, got back in her H3 and scooted (ample, stretch-pants covered) booty...

    *sigh*

People suck... Unfortunately, bike just have the state minimums on it ATM, budget is pretty tight until (if) my surgery suit settlement comes in... Doctors wont clear me to go back to work and SSI Disability isn't the goldmine you might expect, LOL!

Dude, that sucks. Did you get a copy of the tape and file a police report? Any chance they can track down the car? If not, perhaps you can keep an eye out for it, then jot down the plate #.

Unfortunately, there's probably nothing you can do, but then again if you track down the idiot there are other ways to make people pay...

Hope the fix sticks. If not, take it to a pro shop or get the one you found there in Dallas.

Well, JB Weld didn't do the trick, so I went a step farther than I probably should have...

The plate is steel (I know, I know - corrosion) but (not shown) there's a "gasket" between the frame and the plate made out of 1/4 sheet nylon and the bolts are Stainless Steel and black anodized and slathered in anti-seize... (also not shown are nylon under steel stacked washers on the frame side)

I'm not sure that drilling that close to the swing arm bolt is recommended, but I plan on keeping a close eye for cracks there and I'm going to replace the frame once the last few riding days of the season are done as a winter project anyway...

    Security Cameras

I worked in the IT dept for a public school and was frequently required to examine sec cam footage to find out what who when.

One time, a student didn't come home from school. Parents crazy, police involved, huge hunt. Other tech guy says he doesn't see her on the cam footage. I spend 4 hours at the sec. cam. terminal, phoning people, calling kids, interrogating kids etc to try to find out what happened to the kid because the last anyone saw of her, she was at volleyball practice.

Footage sucked, low quality, no footage, bad placement, etc. But here is the thing - while I didn't see her, I saw other people, and I found them, and they answered questions which led me to other people. Finally get to this kid that tells me "she got into a car with those guys that are staying with Ms. Soandso."

She was just f%$&^in around, mad at her parents. I was so PO'd

My point is, watching 10 seconds of crappy footage often times is not enough. Maybe you could approach Walmart again, follow the fat ass back into the store on the cams, maybe she paid with plastic.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the security guy to give me a copy of the video and the lady was backing into a parking space and hadn't yet gone in to purchase her daily allotment of HoHo's and Cool-Aid...

Such are the breaks I guess...

And Godz no, stay away from that Peeps O' WalMart site - that which has been seen cannot be unseen no matter how hard you try...
