Anyone have any experience with these on a 5th gen? Mine came with a double bubble and the wind buffeting lands smack on my helmet and is making me deaf. I usually ride with earplugs but when I'm touring i like to use use Race quiet earspeakers (20db noise reduction), sometimes they pull out and I dont like to have to stop right away.
Life wasn't meant to be anything. But there is nothing wrong with trying to enjoy it.

How tall are you? I experience the same wind noise issue with the stock screen at 6'3", but am content with it because it's a clean flow of air...
I'm 6 foot, and yes i have noticed the air is smoother up there. If only I were taller... I have the original windscreen I think I will give it a try.
I have noticed that these double bubble windscreens were designed to allow a smaller frontal area and reduce drag when a RACER is in full crouch. Thats not how I am using the bike.

I went back to the OEM screen on my '98 when my Givi Tour broke. I'm very content with it. I've made a few long trips since (5,000+ and 1,500+ miles) with long 80-90 mph interstate runs, and see no need to replace it. I'm 6' 1".

I've changed from the OEM windscreen to a Givi (with a flip-up) that gives great comfort.
I'm 5' 10" and use Heli-Bars.

I think it's about 4" taller than stock.
I had a double-bubble and I know what you mean about buffeting!
I replaced it with a tinted, but stock-sized screen and I like it alot better.
I'm 6'2" w/heli-bars and I like the clean air on my helmet. I still wear plugs, but the buffeting sound is reduced alot.

I'm 6'4" and the buffeting with my ZG Double Bubble is horrible at any speed above 60 or so. I'm thinking about switching back to stock.

6'0 and zero grav touring... I like the flow at the bottom of my helmet rather than my chest. Better rain protection, my helmet flows well in the wind and I hardly ever ride without ear plugs.

I have two stock screens in 8-9 of 10 condition for about 20 bucks apiece if someone wants them; or i'll swap for someones unwanted double bubble or givi flip or something... Just kinda throwing that out there...

I'm 6'3" tall and my bike came with both the OEM and Givi windshields. I also use Heli Bars, which of course prop me up higher. I cannot use the Givi shield - the rough air is way too turbulent and noisy on my helmet, even with earplugs in. The OEM allows a much cleaner flow of air and is much quieter.

I wemt with the MRA screen. I haven't tried any of the others, other than stock of course so I can't really compare them. The MRA is an improvement, but not a huge one. It has a lip on it like the laminar lip that can be adjusted, but it still gives some wind noise. I was hoping for more of a Goldwing type effect with more dead air, but I guess that's a lost causeI would probably rate it a 7 out of 10. I'm about 6'1" and am using the helibars as well.
I think that some of you guys that go with Heli bars and a Touring screen kinda negate the benefit to a degree. Basically, you are putting your upper body where it was with stock and stock, in relation to the new screen. I would think the more noticeable setup would be to go with the screen first, then compare. Or Heli bars with the stock screen. I do notice the wind pushed higher up. But its in an acceptable location; not buffeting my chest, but above or about the shoulders. On a road trip, I definitely like the Touring screen over the stock. Maybe scratching, it would be negligible because Im all over the bike anyway...my two bits.

I have been rotating the OEM, ZG dubbub, and Givi D200S for the past month or two in order to decide which works best. The airflow is smoothest with the OEM but there is a significant blast which is making a difference now that it is getting chilly around here. The Givi offers the best protection, so I am using it now. However, especially on a windy day, the Givi can be the noisiest. The ZG is a decent compromise between protection and smooth air flow.
Overall, I am happy with all three screens, but I am 5'7"; if you are much taller, you might have different experiences with them.

Neither. The Puig racing screen....Works great and nicer looking lines.
I agree.. the Puig (touring) is the gem. Unfortunately not available for the 5th gen anymore. I ended up with the ZG ST. Some say "fugly", but I think it works and looks OK. Better than stock for me (6'2" - helibars).
I jammed some black foam weatherstripping across the vent under the screen. I found I was getting a "mini blast" on my chest from the vent.
The ZG ST doesn't have a flip, so noise and turbulance isn't too bad.
Cheap too - listed as "seconds" on e-bay, I think it was 49.00, I never found any flaws.

I have an 07 and I am 5'8". Took the day off today and I went on a 200 mile trip (72* and sunny in CINCY).Did about 80 miles on the slab to the "promise land" (KENTUCKY) and the wind noise drove me "NUTS". I have my bars raised up 3/4" with stock shield. When I streach my neck up, tilt my head back and sit up tall as I can I get clean air. You guys that are 6' plus are lucky because I think the stock shield would be perfect if I was that tall. I am used to my 919 naked... clean air and quiet, right now my ears are ringing and I always wear plugs! I know I need a diff shield but It seems it should be lower not taller?? I would love too hear some advice.
I'm 6'1" and I put my OEM back on after my Givi broke. I'm much happier with the shorter OEM.
(Forgot to add that I have Helibars.)
Today I rode from just south of Cincinnati on back roads to Red River Gorge, around the Gorge, and then back north on the slab. As my wife was on the back, I had the Corbin on the bike. For this trip I had the Givi installed. It worked just fine--good protection, and the noise wasn't too bad. This is the first time that I has ridden at 80+ mph for a long distance with this particular screen. I was pleasantly surprised with how well it worked.
The next time I take a long ride at high speed, I'll bring the Givi along.

I'm 5' 9", with gen mar risers and the Givi touring screen and hate it. I'm going to go back to stock in the spring. Way to much dirty air on my Mellon!
If anyone wants a GIVI, drop me a PM. I notice that if I stick my head up about 2" the buffeting goes away. So someone who is 6' with helibars would be OK as the helibars are slightly higher then the gen mar risers.

I'm 6'1", have Helibars, and use the OEM shield. Air hits me right below the shoulders, with calm air at my helmet. I like the air hitting me in the upper chest. It acts like a defibrilator.![]()
