I've been a fan of gen 5 VFR's since they came out and now they're cheap enough that I bought one last night from a dealer who opted to liquidate before the winter. I'm conducting a social expiriment as I've not told my wife. It's under my bike cover in the garage next to my CBR and I want to see how long it takes for her to notice.
It's a 2001 with 9500miles (was a US bike, I'm near Vancouver Canada), pretty much stock, but with a Corbin seat and beetle bags. $5200 can (bikes are a bit more expensive up here)
I'm not sure about the beetle bags as they are not portable and didn't come with pull out bags like some cruiser bags. Might sell them in favor of my soft bags. Any opinions/advice?? Still has the OEM reg but we all know how to fix that, The white wheels aren't great. Paint or powder coat???? Finally got the bike I wanted...can't wait untill spring!! Anyone near Vancouver want a great CBR F2??

you have to tell me the secret....how did you spend 5500 dollars with out her knowing? offshore account? alias ? rolled a drunk passed out American tourist? ( I know you would have to roll about ten or fifteen to that kind of scratch...)

Nice bike! I am looking at 5th Gens since I wrecked my 95. I think the FI will be awesome.

Powdercoating is the way to go if you want to change the wheel color! Paint will chip as soon as you get new tires put on. Nice bike! I hope you dont catch too much greif from the better half and if you do explain to her that you did it so she would have a more comfortable seat :)
Recently I stripped and polished the wheels on my 5th gen (sorry, no pics). Left the rought cast portions gloss black. It was, IMO, very well worth the effort!

I would absolutely powder coat! (paint will chip while you watch it!) The white's not bad, but I kinda like black, or maybe gold. Sell the F2 and maybe she won't notice? Mine sure would!!
Happy trails

Congrats on your new VFR!
Worked for me. Mine can't tell the difference betwee my 2nd gen and my
6th. (both white) I just told her I got new "race" fairings I'll do it again when the 1200 comes out. I'm sure glad she's pretty, if it weren't for her good looks and badonkadonk, I don't know how she'd get by.
nice bike...... don't worry she'll notice the bright Red bike.
I will admit the white powder coat does look pretty sick on the wheels. I'd love to take the beetle bags off your hands and if possible that corbin seat! muahahayou can have my old seat and a sweaty wad of cash if you are interested!
LMAO that's funny. Today will be the test, she took her scooter to work for the last ride of the season which was parked right next to the covered up VFR, I'm dying to know if she noticed. The person who is most likley to find it first is my eight year old daughter who spends more time out there with me than anyone. It's going to be tough to not be able to ride it until spring. I've got a hand injury so I had a buddy test ride for me. All I can do is blip the throttle. Looking forward to it for sure.
Welcome and congrats.. Bike looks great. My wife helped me get my bike. And pushed me to get it too.. ($ was tight at the time) But nothing gets by her.. She b on the ball mos def..I concur on the powdercoating.

Congrats on the new purchase.

Yeah she found it today but only because I was leaning against it talking to her. I could have steered her away and hidden it for longer but it was a pain not being able to work on it. She was understanding.

Congrats. on both counts. the bike and the wife. Welcome to the family
Post photos, my man. Not pics, it doesn't exist!!! LOL
