Save your 2k and buy a non salvaged one that needs nothing for less then the time and money that you will sink into that one...

I would do that, but I guess I figure that if i get this bike for 2k, and spend 1k in parts to fix it (I wont be buying parts new, but hopefully I can get some from people on here or on ebay), I have a near perfect VFR for $3k. I have looked around and bikes around 03-05 with no problems seem to be selling for around 5-6k. Like I said, I am not really concerned about the salvage status but rather the parts and ease to work on the bike. I would actually much rather buy a bike that needs to be taken somewhat apart to fix, that way while I am fixing it, I can get a real good handle on wokring on that specific bike. I have worked as a mechanic in a dealership so I am knowledgeable about fixing them, plus its almost a hobby of mine. Thanks for the quick reply, and any other input would be awesome!

I wreck my 05, The condition similar to your 03. Guess.............
Labor and parts 10k. Total the bike and bought me a new one save me from headach and times. Even if you fix it yourself that would cost you at least 3k + That total of 5k. you can buy a decent bike for that amount of money. Just my 2cents
