    2010 Honda VFR1200 Spy Shots
Yes, you’ve surely seen the stuff circulating in Europe about some official Honda photos of the much-speculated V5-powered replacement for the VFR coming in 2010, but these are actual shots of what is surely the U.S. version prototype undergoing field testing. Needless to say, the Honda personnel weren’t too happy about the bike being spotted, and they hurriedly covered it and rolled it up into a waiting box truck.

The new bike is said to be a sport-touring mount powered by a V4 engine with displacement around 1200cc. It is claimed to have variable cylinder technology, allowing it to “turn off” two cylinders (presumably the rear bank) while cruising in order to save fuel. European publications are claiming that the engine will have power “approaching 200 horsepower”, but considering Honda’s corporate philosophy and the intended market, we seriously doubt it.

    2010 Honda VFR1200 Spy Shots
Obvious in the photos is the shaft drive/single-sided swingarm combination, along with what looks to be a 6.00-inch-wide rear wheel. The bodywork looks to have a slightly unorthodox headlight up front, with the fairing having a stepped channel running up the side presumably to help with radiator heat evacuation and keep engine heat off the rider. The exhaust canister also has some unique styling, with dual exits coming out of the cone-shaped muffler. The aluminum perimeter frame obviously looks pretty beefy as well.

We’ll be posting more information as it becomes available. Stay tuned.

Wow, BMW must be really flattered. I however, am not. If Honda's guru is correct, and this isn't a VRF replacement, then I may hold out some hope. If not, then my 6th gen is the last "real" VFR made. Way to go Honda!- down hill.....

Looks like theres alot of weight on the riders arms. Not the prettiest bike ever but a 1200 vfour sounds appealing. Kinda looks like a ducati front light.

I agree it looks like a Honda version of the K1300S. I think it looks cool. It looks like more of a competitor for ZX14, & Busa. Hopefully Honda will follow it up with a sport oriented 1000 V4.

One thing's for sure; Honda had better not leave the front end looking the way it does in the photo. That front/upper fairing/headlight setup certainly needs some design attention to make it more appealing.

My comments. Seems to have answered my biggest complaints about the suspension on the VFR with the upside down forks. I like the idea of shaft drive on a sport tourer. I prefer to ride rather than adjust. Styling perhaps leaves something to be desired but looks are not everything. It looks like it has reasonable ergonomics with a good balance between sport and tour. Don't personally like the new exhaust style but it seems to be on everthing these days. Overall when (IF) it arrives in stores I will check it out but it would have to be pretty damn good to make me replace my 6th Gen.

I'm all for more power, shaft drive and a lower center of gravity but if I wanted a K1200S I would have got one. VFR's have always special in one way or another. The question is what is "special" about this one.

Out of the 10 threads and many more to come someone needs to start an OFFICIAL one already...
