Tonight I had a Perdomo Habano Maduro 6 X 60. Holy crap, this is a powerhouse of a smoke. Perdomo is fast becomming my favorite brand. CAO is still in 1st place by Perdomo is on the outside & moving up fast. I am ordering a box of Perdomo Lot 23 tomorrow & they come with 8 freebies. 28 premium cigars for $90. Not too bad if you ask me.

KC-10 is a better man than I. Every Perdomo I have ever had has tasted good, and I do like their "Champagne" quite a bit, but the nicotine content almost kills me...

I have ordered some Gurkha Nepalese Warriors and Royal Brigades to try out, as KC-10 seems to think highly of them. Provided that I survive the encounter, I'll offer up an opinion.

    Cheers, all!

For anyone who might be interested in buying cigars & use Cigars International:

Click on the cigar you are interested in.
On the left side of the page there is a list of the "specifications" of the cigar.
This will say what country & type of leaf was used.
It will also list the relative strength of the cigar.
It will say things like: mild, mild-medium, full, medium-full, etc.

Look at these two examples, same cigar, just a different wrapper & that means a different strength & flavor.

Hey KC: those big ring gauge cigars can be wonderful if rolled correctly (Casa Blanca is known for those fattie cigars too but Perdomo is probably better by quite a bit). I did have several cigars when camping on the 4th of July weekend. Fuentes mostly. Wonderful!

I met Arturo Feunte at the Cigar Aficianado Big Smoke in Atlantic City in 2004. The way he explained it to me is with a big ring gauge, it take more than one leaf to produce the cigar. Any time you have more than one leaf in a given cigar, the taste gets more complex. Sounds good to me.

That Fuente family is quite a dynasty. Very sharp folks there. There is a real science to growing, aging and rolling cigars.

    So many cigars...so little time.

Tonights cigar was a CAO MX2 7 X 56. This one has been in my top 5 favorites for 3 years. Not a bad way to spend 2 hours. When I deploy, it gets expensive since I smoke lots of cigars.

I've noticed it gets expensive when I smoke cigars, too. I suspect that it might have something to do with the drinking and gambling, though...

Well Folks, I gotta tel ya. I like the cheap smaller cigars. Smoke Colts Mild up here in the frigid North. Enjoy Swizzer Sweets too. Haven't smoke too many of the pricier ones.

SO say said to myself, "Idiot! Go buy yourself a nice Cuban. So to the tobacconist and I bought myself a H. Upmann Coronas Major for $16.00. It sucked. Smoked half of it and threw the rest away. I may give some of what has been posted here a try but be fooked if I will spend that kind of money again...unless I am drunk....and that really doesn't happen much these days.

The Montecristo Cubans were really good about ten to fifteen years ago. Most of the Cubans I have had in the last five years have been a non-event.

I paid way too much for a couple of Fuente Opus X cigars for a Thanksgiving treat a few years back, for myself and an old friend. I smoked about 1/4 of mine and tossed it. He was braver than I and smoked about 1/3 of his before he gave up. I guess we should have drank more first.

My grandfather smoked cigars. Several years ago my dad decided he was gonna take it up again. It wasn't long before it became a semi hobby. He bought a smallish humidor to keep his hobby fresh. The last couple years have been spent testing and experimenting.
One of the finer moments of our adult relationship was sitting in the driveway with a beer and a couple fine cigars just shooting the breeze.
    Good times.

I was enjoying a Rocky Patel Edge outside last night, between the teeth chattering and numb fingers. My garage isn't much warmer. Anyone created a unique, warm location to enjoy a cigar when the temps drop way down?

I used to be the master of that...start with a good insulated coat and hat. Wrap a blanket around your legs as you sit on your favorite outdoor chair. Rotate one hand in a pocket (warming) and the other holding the cigar. Switch every so often. Try a handwarmer too. (Special bonus points for a small space heater or fire pit.) Be sure to have your iPod cranked up too! A wee dram of some alcoholic beverage helps!

I just got two of the best cigars...FREE CIGARS! A fellow who used to work with me dropped off a couple of Macanudo Maduros...very nice!

Try a Davidoff Millenium Blend. I haven't met a person yet that didn't think it was a fantastic smoke.

Buy one of those $100 fire pits they sell in Target. I think I will be buying one soon. I have 3 white oak trees that need to be cut down so I will have fire wood for quite some time.

    Good times.
This is so true. I don't know why, but it seems to me, that many of the finer moments in life are spent reflecting while enjoying a fine cigar with a fine drink.

Look at it this way, cigars get better when you age them. If you buy a humidor & only casually smoke a cigar every now & then, they will be better each time. That is, of course, assuming you properly care for them in the humidor.

I deploy tomorrow morning. No more messing around. the 10 place travel humidor is left on the shelf. This time around I bringing the a game & taking a 75 count real humidor with me. I put 65 cigars in it 2 days ago. That should keep me real busy. I have 2 each of 3 new cigars that I am bringing with me that I've never tried. The rest are smokes that I've had before & enjoy.

    The new ones are:
    La Flor Dominicana Ligero
    La Gloria Cubana Torpedo
    Olivia Serie "O"

Oh YES! If you are sampling the Isle of Skye's products (Drambui) then you should go all the way and add some Talisker to the mix...the only scotch made on the Isle of Skye. Wonderful!

And good luck out there KC! (The La Gloria Cubanas are delightful smokes!)

Randy, if you have a local humidor, see if they hanve Acid Krush Classic. They are smaller cigars, don't cost nearly as much and have a sweeter wrapper somewhat like the swisher sweets. They are not high end but they are not bargain basement either. After trying several of the more expensive ones, I went back to these because they don't take as long to smoke. I like them, AND they come in a tin with a sportbike print on it... cool huh?

Seriously, though. I do not smoke that often so the big ones just overpower me. These seem to work just right for that rare occasion where I want to smoke. My local guy sells them for around $1.35 ea or $13.50 for a tin of 10. I like to go there and buy a few at a time so he foots the bill for the humidor and the shipping and I like the smell of walking in the shop and smelling all those different tobaccos mixed together...

Smoked a new stick tonight after the first really goooood ride after the winter. It was a Hoyo De Monterey Dark Sumatra. Damn, what a kick ass smoke. Nice thick smoke, good aroma, even better flavor. All this for the paltry sum of $3.25 a stick. HIGHLY recommended.

What made this cigar even better was the fact I got it for free. I was at a hotel in Tampa & I found a live cock roach in my bath tub. I mentioned it to the front desk & they were appalled. They asked what they could do to make me happy.

I jokingly said, "Give me a couple of smokes from that humidor over there".

They said, "No Problem, here's the key, pick out which ones you want."

How can you argue with that?

Nice deal from the hotel...hell, I think I'll bring some cockroaches with me if I ever go to a hotel with an in house humidor....

    In other news...

    SCHIP tax....

    IT'S COMING! lol

I don't know why people are making such a big deal about it...it's not a huge deal unless you smoke way too often for your own good. Hell, Michigan already has a 30% wholesale price tax going. (and people wonder why I order all my cigars online from PA lol)

Hoyo de Monterreys are always a favorite of mine...they have a number of lines...most are excellent.
Be very careful about the beginning.
Then, be very careful about the end.
Then, be very careful about the middle.

I've been ordering from CI or Famous Cigar for awhile and both have great service, definitely . Enjoying a Rocky Patel Connecticut 2nd from Famous right now.

But they're on the east coast and ground delivery takes a week here to the west coast or I have to pay $10 for 2 day UPS, which I prefer to minimize the time the sticks spend in the back of a hot truck.

Is there a west coast supplier that has the same level of service and supply so I can cut down on delivery times and cost?

I have run into the same thing. CI is where I go if I do any mail order and they sure have some great sales sometimes. My local humidor is good, though and he doesn't try to gouge on the prices as far as I can tell. I think a Dirt Torpedo cost me $6.95 the other day which is a little more than it used to be but it's nice for an occasional treat. I bought a jucy lucy and it was good but it was $6 and there aint much to it. may as well pay the extra buck and get the dirt. can't beat his deal on the Acid Krush, though. He sells a lot of them I guess.

I'm not sure of a west coast supplier... most of the big companies are in PA due to the taxes. Everything has gone up in price though due to SCHIP coming into effect this spring. Which definitely doesn't help out the local guy here in Michigan where the state tax was already 30% of wholesale.

I agree with you guys though...standard ground sucks for you guys. Only 3 days max for me...if I have the patience(I'm weak for next day smokes lol).

One thing to watch for though, is the Joe Cigar daily deal on CI. It gives you a free shipping on your order and even gives you a discount on express shipping methods if you want those. I think next day was $15 bucks with the free ground shipping credit...IIRC. I haven't ordered off of CI since last summer so don't hold me to it. I buy most of my stock off of their auction site CigarBid.com now.
