Couture Vs Lesnar!

For all the mma fans on this board what are your predictions for Ufc 91?

I gotta go with Couture. He has the absolute best fight strategies in the game. He also has crazy stamina and while lesnar is huge he has yet to see the 4th and 5th rounds.

I also predict Stevenson will tap out Kenflo in the first round to a neck snapping gulliotine.

Oh yeah, do you plan on buying the ppv?

not sure. I have kind of quit following it. I used to try and catch Chuck Liddels fights since he's the local guy but since he is not doing great my interest has waned. Couuture is getting kind of old though isn't he?

I wont be buying the ppv but i have a friend that usually does so I may go check it out at his place if it's worth seeing. Do you think this one will be a good one?

Couture may be "getting old" but he is in better physical shape that 90% of the people from my age to his.

I'd say the fight is definitely his. I can't believe they are giving Lesnar a title shot after such a short time, whatever though I guess.

I feel ya on Liddel reg, makes ya wonder what happened to the guy?

Ok first off Liddell is still Liddell! He got caught with a lucky punch in a fight that he was dominating. How can you doubt the guy when he has done so much in the sport and not too long ago his fight with Wanderlie Silva was unbelievable. Chuck will be back on top wait and see.

Anyway this ppv is going to be the most viewed, biggest mma fight to date. If you have the means to view it you deffinately should. The co-main event is Joe Stevenson vs Kenny Florian. These are two of the most exciting and talented fighters in the world. If you are at all interested in mma this is one you don't want to miss.

Its not that I doubt Liddel, its just in his last few fights he just hasn't quite looked like the same fighter.

When Chuck got ko'd by rampage I would call it a mistake.
When Chuck lost the decision to Jardine I would say he underestimated him.
When Chuck won the war against Silva I would say he performed at top level.
When Chuck got ko'd by Rashad I would call it 100% luck.

I know this is only my opinion but we will see how he does down the road. Rumor has it he might be fighting Anderson Silva at Ufc 94. How cool would that be?

Considering Couture OWNED a much larger (6" & 40lbs) Tim Sylvia for 5 rounds, I would lean toward him to win.

However, if someone were to offer me 5-1 odds for Lesnar, I would probably risk some money. At 265lbs, Brock Lesnar is the largest a fighter in the UFC is allowed to be. He is a solid 265lbs at that. Tim Sylvia was 265lbs, but he was a little flabby & his primary advantage was his crazy long reach. Considering I've seen Brock Lesnar pick up a 450lb dude & throw him around, he's got the strength. He's shown that he has the gas to go 3 solid rounds. He's shown that he has serious striking ability. He lost to Frank Mir due to his own mistake. Mir didn't win the fight, Lesnar lost. The only variable is whether or not he can pull all the skills together against (no questions asked) one of the best fighters in UFC history.

Yep, me too. Stamina and smarts will do it for him. I never really admired his stamina until that recent Silvia fight. He was fighting in the 5th no different than the 1st round.

I doubt I'll get it on PPV though. If some of my buds were MMA fans and would split the cost w/me then I would.

I gotta go with the experience that Couture has over Lesner. If Couture gets it past the 3rd round without submitting Lesner then he will win the stamina fight. It's going to be brutal with 2 power hitters but i feel no matter how good Lesner is (waaaay better than Kimbo who has ZERO ground game) Couture will get him in a long fight.

Kenny Shamrock is from Susanville, Ca. I see his dad driving around town all the time. He drives a red caddy with shamrocks on the door handles.

Kimbo is a joke! He needs to go back to backyard brawling on youtube and leave the proffesional fighting to the proffesionals.

well, my brother in law ran into chuck downtown not too long ago and he was sayin he still has 2 more fights that he is contracted for I believe. I guess we'll see what he can do. It's kind of hard to retire when they offer you that kind of dough. I just worry about him losing again and his record getting too uneven. I always thought of Chuck as kind of 'the face of the UFC' and figured once he started declining he'd move to announcing or something as people seem to really like him. At least around here they do, but I got the impression back in Missouri he was popular also so I didn't think it was just a local thing.

I give it to Couture. I think the only chance Lesnar has is if he can land a lucky punch.
The longer it lasts the odds favor Couture. Plus, Lesnars lack of experience in the cage will show.

While I didn't see the fight, it seems that Brock Lesnar TKO'd Randy Couture & is now the UFC Heavyweight Champ. Whereas before he was seen as a joke of sorts, this solidly proves that Brock lesnar aint no joke. He took out one of the best fighters in MMA history.

I can't wait for him to fight the winner of Frank Mir & Antonio Nogeira. I want Frank Mir to win simply for the rematch. Not to mention, Frank Mir is one of my favorite fighters.

Hey reg71, Chuck is well liked up here in Canada too. Not as much as GSP but as a long time champ,Chuck is well liked. Lesnar will be a good addition to the UFC as now he actually has a legitimate Championship Belt unlike the laughable WWE ones he had. He has shown the world he is "The Man". GSP over BJ Penn on Jan.31. He'll beat him again.
I can't see Frank wanting to fight Lesnar again as he got lucky the first time. You can be sure Lesnar won't get caught by that again. He would destroy Frank in a rematch just like he was doing the first time before he made his mistake.
