1992 - bought it new in '91. My pics are in the gallery.
I have a 1998vfr, i bought mine in used 02 with about 9800 miles. Currently it has 23,000. It is a great bike and runs hard.![]()
Had a 84 Vf1000 then to a 86VFR 700 then to a 96VFR which was the bike to have for ever, till a drunk on the freeway decided that it was time to pass out, taking me and 3 cars with him, what a mess. Took a couple years to get back in the saddle, was given a 87vfr700 that needed fixed it up once done, I tooled around on that while I was healing up, then, the bug bit and checked out the new versions of VFRs, didn't care for em, funny too cause I was sure I'd fall right in, Nope, so went hunting for what I had, found the one I have in Phoenix of all places, one owner looks like it was well takin care of. Sold the 700 and added up what I had before, Staintune, Race Tech, K-N but this time around I'm trying out the Pirelli Corsas use to run with BS but these had a good price and the rant-rave was noticable, So far they are great! Now, for the Ohlins shock. All is good again.
Currently riding an 02 VFR but previously had a 99 VFR. Also had an RC 51 for about 9 months. I do not miss the gear whine from the 5th gen but am not sure I'm a fan of the VTEC either. Overall, I've really enjoyed both generations.
VFRMike.
I have a red 2000 model. Bought it used in December '04 after my '94 VFR was written off.![]()
It came with a Ventura rack & a low mount Staintune.I've added a Bagster tank cover & tank bag (from ebay for AUD $93.00
), recently bought a rear hugger that hasn't been fitted yet.
I currently ride a 99, but am selling for an 06. I've had an 86 vf500 and 86 vfr700. Pics in gallery.![]()

On my birthday in Dec of 94, I got a phonecall at work that it was in. I asked them not to bust the crate 'til I came over. I helped open it and set it up. Stilll think that is my best bitrhday to date!![]()
That was the first VFR that shop had ever ordered. They were a small town outfit in West Tennessee.
99 VFR 800 Best bike I have owned. Love it!
'99 VFR ... borrowed an '04 for a while but not really fussed with it .. was happy to give it back .. I like my '99 better !
I really had no opinion about any VFR except for that time one blew my doors off at Virginia Beach one time...but I do love this bike and I,m glad to hear that I picked the right one. A buddy of mine "Moto Joe" suggested the VFR when I was looking for a new ride and once I saw the 99 I was hooked.

freewheel, I was kinda the same way. I wasn't in the market for a VFR, but one happened to come up for sale fairly close to me so I thought I'd take a look. I liked it, and the price wasn't too bad. I have to say that usually after any big purchase I feel sick for a couple days...it's just something I've always done...but not with the VFR. Very little buyers remorse, and if I ever do start to feel any, I push the starter button. Just hearing it run makes me feel good. Sounds crazy but it's true. I'm no balls-out racer or anything, I just like to ride. I even feel good when I'm going to work when I'm riding the bike. Of course, I've always been like that about motorcycles.

Square Pants, I could'nt have said it better. I am one of those guys that just ride because I can I don't wait for a nice day or do it to be cool. It's just something I love to do. I got away from it for a few years and now that I'm back I realize how much I missed it. The bonus is that my new job allows me to bag about 250 miles a day sometimes cruising through the Catskills...and they pay me by the mile too......sweeeeeet!~
I have to agree with you there peregrin .. I ride to work every day regardless of the weather because I enjoy it. I am often asked why I don't get a car to drive when it is raining/cold etc and usually no amount of explanation to someone who does not ride will have them understanding the pleasure in being on the bike.Originally Posted by preregrin
