    For my mid-west friends

I'm from Wisconsin, and I'm getting alot of nasty bugs flying around my head at stop lights. It's the most annoying thing. Granted I'm not always sitting on my ride at stop lights, I do ride the thing. Is anybody else having this problem? Does anybody have a solution, because a 2 minute stop makes me think someone smeared dog crap on my helmet. Please post your rude jokes about hygene now.

A shower and deodorant should do the trick (J/K).

I ran into thick swarms of gnats in Iowa two weeks ago. Annoying, but at least they don't bite, and they have a mild taste. Felt funny in my nose, eyes, and ears, though.

Have not tried this myself - maybe spray some bug repellent on your helmet?

I didn't know Pigpen from Peanuts grew up to be a biker... ;-) Try washing your helmet liner and gear with unscented laundry soap? It gets sweaty under there, at least around here. I'm in KC and experience localized bug swarms around the noggin (though not while riding, so far) when I'm outside in the summer... I don't know about the rest of you but some of our gnats bite!

Maybe it’s your bike, not you. That area of the country is notorious for its swarms of harleybugs. They viciously attack Hondas, as you can attest.

The main hive is located on Capitol Drive near you I hear.

Hmmm...this is the first time I've heard about bug splatters on a face shield primarily when stopped rather than while riding. This is an interesting troll...

OK, I'll bite. Here's what I would try: Buy a really large tank bag, one that's large enough to hold your helmet. Put your helmet in the tank bag whenever you're stopped at any lengthy red lights, then put it back on your head whenever you're moving. In order to smoothly execute these maneuvers, simply employ a ThrottleMeister long enough to free-up both hands. (No expensive aftermarket electronic cruise controls required here.) Problem solved.
Race Tech Gold Valve front & rear suspension; MCCruise electronic cruise control; Sargent leather seat; Zumo 550 GPS; Escort 8500X radar/laser detector; Autocom Super Pro AVi kit; Kenwood FreeTalk 2-way FM radio; HotGrips Ergo-2 heated Grips; DID X-Ring chrome chain; Factory Pro EVO-H91 shift kit; MRA Vario touring windscreen; PIAA Sport Horn; Michelin Road Pilot 2CT's; Red Line synthetic oil & Purolator Pure One oil filter

Down here we call those things "dog peter gnats" and theyre just a function of summer.......

A night ride just commuting to work requires a microfiber rag and some plastic cleaner in the tank bag.
