On the subject of "Speeding" the following story made news in the local paper about twelve months back.
Top this for a speeding ticket...

Two Hunter traffic patrol officers from Newcastle LAC were involved in an unusual incident while checking for speeding motorists on the F3 Freeway.
One of the officers used a hand-held radar device to check the speed of a vehicle approaching over the crest of a hill, and was surprised when the speed was recorded at over 300 kph. Their radar suddenly stopped working and the officers were not able to reset it.

Just then a deafening roar over the treetops revealed that the radar had in fact latched on to a Williamtown Hornet fighter jet which was engaged
in a low-flying exercise over Wyong, approaching from the Ocean.

Back at police headquarters the Local Area Commander fired off a stiff complaint to the RAAF Liaison officer at Williamtown.

Back came the reply in true laconic RAAF style:

'Thank you for your message, which allows us to complete the file on this incident. You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in
the Hornet had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked onto, your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it. Furthermore, an air- to-ground missile aboard the fully-armed aircraft had also automatically locked onto your equipment.

Fortunately the pilot flying the Hornet recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile systems alert status, and was able to override the automated defense system before the missile was launched and your hostile radar installation was destroyed.

    Thank you for your enquiry.

Though possible not likely. If the target is not in site, the radar is highly unlikely (but not impossible) to pick it up. Now I don't know what band of radar the military uses, or what band they deem to be a target, I highly doubt the band used by domestic radar utilized by law enforcement, airports, ferry terminals, fishing fleets, and the list goes on, is the same band they would target.

Bunk. But it does make an interesting story that I have seen many times before in the past. Much like the officers who clocked the church steeple. But. One thing for sure. Styrofoam cups attached in the grill area of your car or stones in the hub caps definately does defeat radar. I encourage you all to do this.

The exact, well, almost exact same thing, happened in California at the El Toro Marine Base. Except the Marines saw a gobbet spinach between the teeth of one of the LEOS.

If there are any alien abductions to be recalled, this is the thread to do the deed. Let's hear it from out there in space.
