Vancouver Island Day Ride

Anyone up for a Vancouver Island Day ride. Lower Mainlanders can catch a very early ferry, go over and meet some of our Islander friends, ride the day on a yet to be determined route, then catch a later ferry back to the mainland after dinner. I was thinking Thursday September 10.

Waddayathink?

So Thursday September 10 is confirmed. Borg has a tenative route set out for us at this time. He will look closer at it when his time permits. Tenative right now is Victoria - Port Renfrew - Lake Cowichan - Duncan - Victoria. Should be a very scenic ride; I will post up more details as the date gets closer. If you are form Washington State, please come and join us. I will figure out meeting times and places later.

ATTENDEES TO DATE:
1. 34468 randy
2. Jasonsmith
3. Borg
4. Kingsley
5. TriCycle....Maybe
6. HondaTech...only if Interpole lets him get a passport
7. Chomper....If it is not raining. He is complaining about wet private parts
8. MARKM123@live.ca....Maybe
9. DIGITALLYHIP
10. RVFR....WIMPED OUT
11. Raro
12. Charlie 3133
13. Borg's Bro (He's an Albertan but that's OK. He will be our red neck)

This should be a good ride,

All attendees, please acknowledge meeting place as Chequered Flags Restaurant @ 2345 Millstream Rd., Victoria, @ 0900ish. LMD riders to meet at Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal at 06:45 for th 07:00 sailing.

Below is a suggestion for a route, it's about 250 km and 5 hrs on the saddle, does not include stretch and meal breaks. If anyone prefers a different route please chime in with your suggestions. Thanks.

Langford-Port Renfrew-Honeymoon Bay-Youbou-Duncan-Langford.

from:Veterans Memorial Pkwy to:Port Renfrew, Capital H (Part 2), Capital Regional District, British Columbia, Canada to:Honeymoon Bay, Cowichan Valley F, Cowichan Valley Regional District, British Columbia, Canada to:kinsol bc to:youbou bc to:duncan

I maybe able to host everyone at my house for an early breakfast, I do need to clear it with the boss first.

I may join in as well.....I'm heading over on the 22nd for 2 days of riding. Doing the Gold River run on the 23rd.

Just an FYI, I did a run very similar last month. It was great. (Started/Ended in Namanio.)

Good to hear, the more VFR's the better.

Too bad I had already made plans for the 23rd, would've been great to go up to Gold River with another viffer.

This will be my weekend. And it is a four day weekend to boot. For that matter....all my weekends are fours days long. Doesn't that just suck?

Randy what do you think... The 7am (1st ferry) to Victoria from Tsawwassen and most likely catch the 9pm or maybe the 7pm on the way back.

If this is good we should maybe make reservations or take our chances for 7am. I just checked and their taking reservations, all for that day is still available. Are reservations needed for motorbikes? You would think they could jam them in anywhere...

I think motorcycles are priority loading but I will check. If they are priority, then there should not be a problem. Time line sounds good. I have doubts about the 7PM return though but we can target for that and if we don't make it, then the 9PM will work for me.

Ya I don't think 7 will work either. No problem with 9 unless we miss it

Just contacted BC Ferries. They do not take reservations for Motorcycles but advise that if we are there 1/2 hour before sailing, we should not have any difficulties on the 07:00 sailing. Coming home I guess we take our chances. I will post up a meeting place for the LMD riders closer to the event and when I get home from the Kootenays.

Cheers all. I am on VACATION Uctum Boogie Woogie Chicken

BTW Jayson....we need a badge for this. You are elected as my Minister of Graphic Design

Sign me up! I'll take the 5:30am ferry from Bowen Island and MUST be back on the 7pm from Swartz Bay (to make the last ferry back to Bowen that night).
