As I am listed in this site as "junior" member, I thought it might be instructive for all to show the real motorcycling experience at this site.
So, how long have you been a motorcyclist?:
1: brat - 0-5 years
2: freshman - 6-10 years
3: sophomore - 11-15 years
4: junior - 16-20 years
5: senior - 20+ years

Damn...just a freshman afraid to admit (but with a 4.0 GPA).

I have been riding for more than 20 years, both off and on-road combined. And your "junior" status will change as you post more.![]()
...as I post more? So it's established by one's writing regularity, not riding regularity!
I have underwear that has ridden longer than you. And I would have them on had they not disentigrated.... the cowards.![]()

Yes, Sepp. As you continue to make more posts to the forum, you member status will change. It has no reflection on the number of years you have been riding.Originally Posted by Sepp

I think I like the Junior status ... it makes me younger, right? :)
Yeah, I didn't think of it that way. Over 26 years in the saddle and still a junior. Sheesh!Originally Posted by MrDe

So you are a Toys R Us kid?Originally Posted by MrDe

Guess I'll be graduating this season. This is my 20th year riding. It really doesn't seem that long ago that I jumped on my first bike as a junior in HS.
12 of those 20 years on my VFR! Time for a change? Nahhhh.
Toys ... hummmmm .... never really thought of bikes as toys; they are kind of like .... just .... it just wouldn't feel right not having one (not that I can remember --- you know!? that poor short term memory thing) :)
I think I'm a Junior with Sophomore status? I've been riding on the road for 13 years but on the dirt for eight before that. Twenty one years? Super senior status!
But if we ask how many years without an accident? I'm only a freshman.
Hmmm, I took a couple years off here and there due to some crappy luck and even crappier jobs, but cumulatively I think I fall into the sophomore category...junior if I count my really old 3 wheeler ATC days.
I can relate!
The crappy job had me in it's evil maw for the last 2 years;however, I start selling Harley's at Heart of Dixie, Giant HD Shop in Pelham (Greater B'ham) Nov. 1! I'll be doing HDs and ThunderRoads Magazine!
Afte 30 yearsin material handling sales and eng. this should be fun.
Stop by and see me!![]()

That would make me a junior, sounds OK to me. Don't think I like the term Senior, not ready for that yet, to many bad thoughts go with it as I am a bit close for comfort.
Keep the rubber on the road.
Shiet! what hapens if you have more than 30years? is that a super senior?
LOL ... at 40+ do I get to start over!? :)Originally Posted by RVFR

Learned to ride on a Super Cub 50 in 1960, living in Japan. Begged borrowed and stole my bro's Yamaha 50 and Tohatsu 50, and his friend's Honda Sport 50 for good measure. Real fun when you're only 11. Bought my first in 1966, a Honda S90.

Imagine that! People of all ages are riding. I have been riding since 76 when I was 11. At times I got caught riding in the street to be punished several times over and over. Eventually my parents sold my bike but by then I had pals that had bikes that I could borrow and be chased by the local sheriff.
When I grow up one of these days, I will use four wheels and geritol to get around.

Like you, I rode buddies bikes here and there to get into trouble here and there. When I had saved enuff to buy one - I asked my Dad - "can I buy a motorcycle?' He wanted no part of that and said "hell no!" Well, what's a determined foole gonna do? I bought one anyway and stored it at a friends house. One day my dad found out - oh he was pissed! That was the only event in my early teens where he beat the hell out me.Originally Posted by JRotten

Well Legs I would like to say there are advantages in getting older but to tell the truth I can't think of to many off hand. You just tend to know more about the shit that can happen.
Keep the rubber on the road.
I think i have the worst Seniority,(BRAT 0-5). I restoreing my 83 interceptor, just a few more tweek and she's done, but the sad thing is i dont even now how to ride a bike and dont even have my liecense yet, but next spring im all registered so ill be rideing next year, lol
Hey grinder - yeah not too many advantages to growing older...until you consider the alternative.
jetts_lm - good looking bike!
I had one just like it back when I lived in Europe in the '80's. Great commuter and a lot of fun on the Autobahns! I liked to work on it 'till once I had the carbs off and dropped a main jet into the intake tract, and it lodged between the valve and seat (they're brass and non-magnetic). I won't disclose how I got it out.
...The things you learn the hard way...!
Thanks sepp its not a full restore but its up to my standard
