I'm 26, 6'3" and 260 but a big strong guy. Gained some weight after a couple of brain surgeries. My ideal weight is 220-230. Should be there in a couple of months. One of my problems is that I gain weight, but it doesn't affect my speed or lifting.

At 37 yrs 6'1" I am 185lbs down from 215 which was definitely to heavy for my frame. Having kids and watching your wife put on 65 or more lbs each time for me was a serious psychological fat pusher/beer slogger for me. I ate whatever whenever somewhat to bury some kiddie lifestyle depression.

My only real advice is if you aren't happy with your body/self, try martial arts. I was in a non-commercial Shotokan Karate group only 4 of us and a Philopino(?) Sensei for like 7 years and it changed my life. The first 2-3 months you will be frustrated, getting your body to kick and punch etc... especially if you have been inactive takes some effort, but I PROMISE within 3 months you will be right as rain and on your way to eating bacon on bacon if you work out 3 or more times/week. One of my Sempei(seniors) took off 150lbs in 1.5 yrs. He was built like Michael Chiklis on TV but fatter and within a few years was a total terror. No one could hurt him.

I commercial fish in alaska and every summer for the past 5 years I've dropped 40lbs only to put it back during the winter. When I return in the fall I always have to monkey with my suspension because I've lost so much and the bike feels fast again.lol.. In the spring I feel like a sumo on a moped.

I am trying the Southbeach diet and have lost 12 pounds in the first two weeks. I am 30, 6'2" and was 207 when I started. I'm at 195 now and I'm thinking somewhere in the 185 to 190 range is where I want to be.
This diet has worked out great for me because I can still eat a lot of the things I like and the portions of proteins and most veggies aren't restricted so I can eat until I'm full. It's about eating high protein, low fat, and the right balance of carbs to make your body do what you want it to.
So far so good, I'll keep y'all posted.

If there was a VFRworld hall of fame for posts, that quote would diffently make it...

You may be on to something here. I have been scratching my head trying to see how to reduce the weight of my VFR. I've thrown everything off that is not necessary and the bike is still too heavy. The easiest thing would be for ME to drop about 15 pounds.

I think that's where they say the easiest weight losses are... I could stand to lose 15 lbs, but that's pushin it without becoming a rail.

most of my life I hovered from 150lbs to 160lbs. when the wife got pregnant I matched her pound for pound through most of her pregnancy. now about a year later I hover around 180 to 190. and I'm 5'9". Last year I started lifting weights 4 times a week in the mournings before work and started doing MMA on Monday nights. The working out was great but what really kicked my but physicaly was the MMA. That stuff really test your strength and endurance.

Mixxed Martial Arts Like in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. I had to stop for a while a few weeks ago cause I gotta have hip surgery soon. I should be back in fighting and riding shape by summer.

Update

I started this diet in November at 239 lb, on 3/15/07 I was 204 lb with only 5 lb to go to get to my goal and desired weight of 199.

I left for vacation on 3/15/07 to New Orleans and did a mini tour of Louisiana, fell in love again with Cajun cooking and devoured every thing in sight from Spicy Gumbo, Oyster Po-Boys, Crawfish & Shrimp fried every way you could imagine and topped it of with Bread pudding which is a lot better than it sounds for all the California people out there. Too make matters worse, I'm not usually too big of a drinker and drank these drinks called Hurricanes like I was a heavy metal guitarist, ended up that night making a lot of promises to the wife that I couldn't keep because of "Bed Spins" if you know what I meen.

To make a long story short, I arrived in Seattle 3/23/07 and the first thing I did was weigh my self and it confirmed my self diagnosis 213 lb . Was it worth it? Hell yes but it probably set me back about 3-4 weeks...
