How many of you are at your desired weight?
I think I have gained three pounds a year for the last 10 years, and for the first time I decided to do something about it.
My goal is 35lbs, After starting my weight training and getting very educated on the proper diet, So far I'm half way home, 17 of the 35lbs are gone. Not trying for raw raw support or turning this into a Oprah thread, but how many of you are are at your perfect weight? |

I'm 39, 6'2 and I weigh 185lbs. This is pretty close to where I am supposed to be, I think around 190. I used to weigh 150 when I was in my 20's so I started lifting weights, eating alot and I packed on an addtional 40. I used to eat an entire box of Banquet frozen chicken a day and chase it with a muscle mass shake. I don't eat like that any more and I walk alot (work at Home Depot). More chicken and vegetables in my diet now; I feel better and don't get sick as often. Still have an occasional burger at Jack in the Box but more as a treat than anything.
Keep it up, sounds like you are well on your way towards what you want.

I'm not even close to where I'd like to be, I've yo-yo'd between 180 & 300 a few different times since my late teens. Junior year of high school I was 280-300lbs, dropped to 185 after getting a job @ a saw mill. Stayed @ that weight until I was 21, the beer & pizza phase in college caught up to me & went back up to 250 ish, had kids, got married, got heavier. Got divorced dropped down to 170 slowly went back up over the last 10 years. It's been worse since I hooked up w/ my current wife because we have six kids between us & work very different shifts. So we are always stuck with all the kids, 2 are disabled one of who is in a wheel chair so it limits the activity you get. The fact that I've been doing more of an office type job lately doesn't help either. I have a basement full of exercise equiptment but have a hard time convincing myself to use it after getting all the kids settled in the evening & getting up early doesn't work well for me either I'd like to lose 50 to 70 lbs to get me @ the 200-220 range, being in my mid thirties I'd be happy with that if I could figure out how to maintain it. I just don't care to get divorsed or pick up a second job stacking lumber to do it again. I'm not obesely fat, but I would look @ home on a NFL defensive line & am finding a little more difficult to pick things up off the floor lately, I need to get busy & do something, though. I've been looking @ supplements to maxiumize what time I can put into it; So if anyones had good results with something I'd like to know

My weight actually doesn't bother me, but I wish my muscle mass was greater. 2 yrs ago I was at 214 with an 8% bodyfat. Now I'm at 199 and my bf is prob a little higher. I'm gradually working on getting the diet back under control. I am hoping to find someone to train with as I have been crosstraining and I'd like to run a marathon and eventually an ironman. Currently I have only competed in one triathlon, but I run weekly up to 10 miles at a time. we'll see...

Dude, if I were at the weight I wanted to be I might actually be able to find clothes that fit. lol 5'7", 128 lbs and it's a pita to find clothes. Not to mention riding gear such as boots. I have small feet so boots are really a pita. oh well, I don't think I'll reach 140 anytime soon. It's not in my genetic make up I don't think. hehee

I really think I put my body through hell in my youth and sometimes wonder if it is coming back to haunt me. Don't get me wrong, every pound I gained I diffently earned. But back in the day, I use to be a nationally ranked wrestler, If anybody on this board knows any high school or collage wrestler, they know exactly what they do to there bodies and there stomachs to make weight... |

I have the same probs with suits. To get a fit through the shoulders and arms, I get a suit with the abdomen for a gorilla. Pants are no prob as I wear about 34/34 which is pretty common. My solution thus far has been that I haven't worn a suit in years. :) I get the same prob with motorcycle jackets, though. I cinch them all the way up in the waist and still have the pot belly look. Oh well...

Like I said, I got very educated on this diet and drink about 75% water and the other 25% is diet cola's and sugar free energy drinks. About 16 pounds to go before I hit my goal of 199. Man I miss potato's and real bread ![]() |

I have an easy metabolism to maintain. If I don't lift, eat a regular diet, 2000 calories or under, I maintain my current 180lb weight or lose weight easliy. If I am on a good lifting schedule and eating well I stay between 185-190 and I am 5'10". I have taken a pretty good break from regular lifting because of grad school and other responsibilities taking my time to do it away....which I hate! I feel like a slug when I'm not lifting regularly. I feel for you guys that gain weight easily or have a hard time shedding it. Simple logic is: eat less (or eat more healthy) and exercise more!

I'm 5' 7", in my 40's and weigh approx. 165lbs.
Not much fat on me at all. My job is physically demanding and I workout 3 times a week at the gym. My main concern is I don't suffer aches and pains in my muscles and joints from work and still have the capability to do everyday things. I have never had a problem with excessive weight and tend to flucuate up and down approx. 2 - 5 lbs. on a steady basis. I would like to be 170lbs. but my body doesn't seem to want to put it on. So I would consider my weight to height to age ratio to be about right. |

I am at my desired weight, now if I could just get to my desired height, maybe I wouldn't look so fat.

Depends on what you mean by perfect. I'm 6', early 40's, about 220lbs, with a 34 inch waist. I have over the past 20 years used a bicycle alot for transportation and carry a lot of mass in my thighs. I think the only time I'm ever going to see the 170 the US Gov says I need to be at is during a brief period while decaying.

LOL ![]() I was being so good for about a month and a half till thanksgiving came, but there was no way I was going to do 40 carbs on this day, it's not the meal so much, but the dessert table with all the pies. cakes and the wife's famous creme brulee that does me in. One thing about having a Oakie/Spanish family, they can all cook! Hopefully I worked it off cutting up a tree today. Next out of control day is Christmas ![]() Last edited by R.W.; 11-25-2006 at 10:03 AM. |
