Gas prices are out of control, it's a complicated issue & I'm sure I could be more informed on the subject. But, I never let that stop me from having an opinion!

"I don't care" how much the rest of the world pays for gas, we shouldn't have to pay current prices.

"I don't care" if the oil companies make big profits (I'm a free market capitolist) at least when I pay the oil company, I get some gas in return (and my 401k increases). When I pay the .60-1.20 in taxes per gallon to the government, I don't get anything in return except more waste.

"I don't care" where they build more refineries, just build them (Alaska sound like a good place to start).

"I don't care" how much other items like water & coffee cost compared to gas. I can stop buying designer coffee & water - like most people, I need gas to get to work every day so I can pay more taxes to just get wasted.

"I don't care" if people drive SUVs, scooters or hybrids - You're not bad or good because of what you drive.

I just want cheaper gas. Maybe the government will help us - Oh thats right, "they don't care..."

The new previously unknown cheap to extract oil fields, otherwise you only have a few of years before peak rather than 2 centuries of oil reserves.

Just so everyone knows, the US Government IS NOT trying to bankrupt you by artificially raising oil prices. If you actually believe this to be true, please check into the nearest mental care facility immediately, cause you need it.

The US has an enormous fleet of ships, vehicles & aircraft. The US Government must purchase fuel to operate these machines. If they are artificially raising fuel to bankrupt the consumer, then that means they are trying to bankrupt the government itself. Anyone with 1/2 a brain can figure this out.

The rise in oil prices have many reasons but the US Gov trying to bankrupt it's own citizens is not one of them.

Gallon to liter conversion. 1 gallon = ~3.785 liters. Which means, at your price Carmine, $2.40 a liter times 3.785 liters = ~$9.08

WOW!!! That is more than double what we pay Carmine. Lamps to you buddy!

Carmine, you have my profound sympathy, for the price you pay for the form of government that steals from you to support unworkable policy.

Let me be clear, I'm as angry as anyone here about gas prices, but I don't entirely blame capitalists, I blame the pasty-faced oil speculating worms who steal us blind from their offices offshore. I'm not saying that the oil companies aren't taking a generous share, but they DO assume the risk of discovery. Working in a refinery is a noble profession, as is any, but what's seen from the dock is different than what happens elsewhere in any company. In my experience, and this will draw flak, a large percentage of workers bleed the companies dry playing the old "Minimum work for Maximum pay" routine. This always results in higher costs and as a result higher product prices. If the shoe fits, wear it. I've worked my entire life in the auto industry and they are thieves for the most part also, but keeping American money in America is our ONLY salvation.

Americans need to start showing character and responsibility for their own future, instead of relying on someone else to "fix" things for them. THAT is only half a step from Socialism.

Just "F"n crazy was $127 a barrel yesterday, just heard it went to $132. wasn't it just last month it was $110? WTH, whats is going on? KC, if you really believe the Gov is paying what we consumer pays, you've not been thinking it through my friend, I know. Yes, I agree they ain't all about the driving the costs up, hard to believe the so called war is doing this, just backwards thinking economic greed IMO. But they ain't paying through the nose either, nor helping. I feel for those in other countries. just crazy.

The two single largest contributers to the rise in prices:

1) India & China have increased their demand greatly.

2) The $US is losing value at an alarming rate. This alone counts for 50% of the increase. My BIL trades in energy stocks & his stocks have lost huge due to this. My mutual fund has lost 23% in less than 3 months. My jaw hit the floor when I saw my last statement.

So, the US Gov IS NOT trying to screw the populous & it's quite stupid to believe they are.

hi WheeeFr,
Basically I agree with your thinking. I like to post on this site because I can send or receive technical experience/suggestion. It happens that the subject falls on political domain when talking about costs and prices. I am not sure that the raise of gasoline price and of other goods depends on raising workers salary...if it was the case..then I will be glad to pay more to help other workers to get better conditions of life !
I am not fully against capitalism...our beloved VFR is a typical product of Jap capitalism. Isn't it ? But now the life all over the world is becoming a merry-go-round : you jump on till you can stay on and then you go down...I notice that you USA guys are proud to be americans...It is a wonderful thing, I agree, but the world is large and one can not be "great" regardless of the rest of the world. I do not know what is your and/or our salvation. One thing I am sure of, knowledge and richness are the same thing : they must be shared. This will generate respect for all peoples in the world. Thanks very very much to give me the chance to have a dialog with you on this site. At least, we have in common the V4 spirit and a neverending love for motorcycles (not only for VFR).
And I finish with my usual :
Lamps to you and to all VFR owners.

I would have to beg to differ with the statement that the US Govt is NOT trying to break the american people. Had WE not destroyed half a counrty in the name of anti terrorist acts and had we not kidnapped 27k people and held them without trial or any sort of legal bindings i might agree.

The fact is this, I have seen the US take tanker truck after tanker truck of there oil from there platforms without paying for it all in the name of protecting the iraq people.

The Govt as now and as they have been for the past 20 plus years is only out for what they can get out of it and now its a power struggle to get complete control.

I am sure there are those out there who truely believe that they are doing whats best for our people but as soon as u can explain to me why over 4k american soliders have died for what? Terrorism u say? ya ok i am not buying it.

9/11 you say? nope didnt happen like they said it did. ITs time people started to look really hard at whats happened in the past 6 years and tell me that things are suppose to be this way.

Tanker truck after tanker truck? Are you serious? The oil goes by tanker SHIP, not truck. Methinks you know not what ye speak.

Now, after re-reading in depth, I see you're one of the "Conspiracy Theorist's"... I will treat your posts on this matter accordingly.
