I stood and admitted my fault to the prosecutor and judge. I am selling my Interceptor as part of my acceptance of what I did. Court is over, could have gone worse, could have gone better.

If I had any advice it would be no matter your situation or lifestyle, don't get caught doing anything in todays society. In Virginia today going 20 MPH over can get you a felony, welcome to the police state.

There is a generation of males, some of which I met whom are encarcerated and that is no way to live. 24 hours is like a week. As they said in Shawshank "time can draw out like a razor"

Last post, bike going home next week to another gent, good luck to all of you. If I get another VFR I'll surely come back.

Rich in Virginia

ps- if you are just going to say some smartass shit about how I deserve it, save it I'm being hard enough on myself. I'll miss you guys.

I don't think there is a rule here where you HAVE to own a VFR to be a member. You may have lost your bike, but you haven't lost your insite and knowledge of these bikes and the VFR riding lifestyle.
Good Luck and don't be a strainger.
Eddie.

Thanks so much guys. Part of all of this process, I consider it a process and not an event, is coming to terms with ones mistakes and making amends for them.

Some of why all of this has effected me so much is because I have been so careful the past 10 years, and never even really go out anymore. The flooding of the house put me under duress, much as the cancer death of my girlfriends' Dad did 10 years ago, he was dead within 3 days after my initial arrest, I almost had made it.

With all that said, pressure does not excuse one from good decision making, and I just hope on some level this makes me a better person and father. The definition of karate is perfection of character, that process never ends no matter what the situation. Losing one's freedom can leave a long lasting impact, which I guess is the point.

On the good end, my bike is selling next week to pay for upgraded flooring and a lawyer, and although I made a bad mistake the judge and prosecutor acknowledged that I was at least attempting to stay under the limit although I failed, and was close to the 10 years so they didn't give me 60 days and 3 years suspended.

Thanks to Michael especially and to all the moderators of this wonderful site. Vman, Reg you guys do a great job, this place is comfortable without getting out of control and everyone seems to know the boundaries. Ride well comrades, and God Bless all of our servicemen and women in theatre and those back here supporting them, without you there is no Republic to love.

Stick to your guns! Don't give it away. You don't have to feed it for the next year, so it won't cost anything to keep it around. Just ride it around the yard once a week and all will be back to normal before you know it.

we can start a " VaRollOn " family fund. I will donate $10 if it helps..
With all the members here , and if we each gave $1 or $5 to help out a fellow member he could keep the VFR .

Good morning guys, thanks Nailer for the very gracious idea, but honestly I would feel pretty uncomfortable accepting help for a situation that I myself caused.

Other situations like what happened to VMAN I think are more appropriate. Don't mistake my post as not being thankful for the idea, I think I would just feel more guilty than I already do.

If I must sell what I love be it my bike or my stocks(which I love to handle!) so be it. When you make a mistake you pay one way or another.

Now help finding a buyer, that I would certainly accept!!!!!!

Yes we all make mistakes and its not like you murdered someone so I see no reason for anyone to give up a passion such as motorcycling

+1. The courts will punish you more than is justified in this case in my opinion, don't assist them.

I don't think he's giving it up, I think he just needs the cash for all his immediate expenses, he will be back in a year or so on the beloved 5G he has always craved

Are you FREAKING kidding me? I for one will not donate any funds to defend against or alleviate the other problems caused or made worse by a drunk driving charge.
