What does your username mean?
Ok, let's see who will bite. What does your username/handle mean? Does it have meaning, or just some letters/words picked randomly?
Mine, derstuka, is short for der Sturzkampfflugzeug , which was a German dive bomber during world war II that was not the fastest or the most agile, however, it was pretty dead on on bombing runs, and made a whaling sound which would strike fear into those who heard it. It had an autopilot feature (since g suits were not invented yet) since the pilot could pass out from the g's of a dive. I used to be a world war II freak, and I am an avid mtn biker, well, a friend and I used to do a lot of downhill mtn biking (still do ride a lot, single speed hardtails mostly now), and we would call each other der stuka for the "divebomber" mtnbiker of the hill/mtn. Kinda lame story I know, but it was just how I came upon this username. |

Well, my name is Eddie, and I work at Valley Trailer Repair. I thought I'd use my work name because my boss bought me a brand new '07 RWB after realizing how cool my old '83 is. He said I needed a new VFR to be friends with the old '83. We repair and rent out semi trailers.

Tbone was my CB handle in high school(way back before cell phone technology was unleashed to the masses) & the 86 is the year of my bike(ironically right around the time I would have been using the CB handle)

Jason,
When i joined my user name was speedfreek because i like to drive fast i love the feeling of speed (driving fast) althow i have slowed down abit, when i was younger i lost my lisson twice for speeding tickets and wheeies and i joined vman38 kept refreing to me as freek so i changed it to just speed , i dont know it kinda sounds cool, plus i put it in the base coat of my paint on my bike. take care Tim Last edited by speed; 01-24-2008 at 09:04 PM. |

When guys at the track would ask me how I was able to get my junkyard racebikes to go so fast, I would tell them that I just did some general lightening. Since I didn't have much money back then, it was cheaper and easier to shave weight than make more power. It's stuck for about 20 years now.

I never was to much of a Internet guy before the VFR, when I purchase something I research the hell out of it, therefore bringing me to VFRworld.
I thought I would do my research, make my purchase and my Internet forum days would be over, but over the time it took me to get educated, I kinda got to know some of the regulars and became a regular myself, now I regret picking such a unoriginal user name...

Sierra VFR because I ride in the Sierra Nevada mountains west of Lake Tahoe which is one of my favorite places. Not so original I know. It sure goes a long way for therapy. I'm sure we all know how that works....

OK, have to approach this from several directions.
1: I had used "XH" as a handle in several places, but I was getting tired of having to add a string of numbers to it. 2: In the Metal Gear series, codenames often take "adjective-animal" form. 3: One day, I was registering on a forum (not this one) and I had just been reading "Last Days of Foxhound" at www.gigaville.com , which is a Metal Gear parody comic. Hence, I had both Metal Gear and silliness on my mind. 4: Taking that them and mixing it with "XH" resulted in X-ray Hound. 5: In the vein of silliness, I decided I came by this codename by displaying the freakish ability to see through glass.

I started racing harescrambles 5 years ago on a Polaris scrambler so I went with scramblerracer. I still race XC but have moved on from the scrambler. It was just too easy to use the same for every forum I am on

Back in my swim team days my long last name would get abbreviated on the grid sheet for meets as "WLOD". The assistant coach would call off the grid and say "VLAD!" Teammates started calling me Vlad and subsequently Vlad the Impaler. It stuck.

When I was in the Air Force I moved in the Plans shop (a sweet job). It was my job to set up everything when the squadron deployed for training. The older guys were giving me a rash my first time setting things up and saying "We better see some action when we get there" (usually the planner has cold beer on hand). Since we were state side and I've never been one to let things go, I asked most of the girls that were just getting off shift from Hooters if they would like to come and meet the guys as they landed. They agreed and I've never seen a bunch of helicopters get shut down so fast. As the beers were being handed out I asked the same guys "Is that enough action for ya?" and I've had the nick name ever since.
Action

A friend moved to Polebridge Montana about 5 yrs ago. he lives in Columbia Falls, MT now.
In Polebridge, he had a neighbor who lived in a steel cargo box. yes, exactly like the ones you see stacked to heaven next to the Jersey Turnpike. Actually, he had two. he was going to use one to raise chickens. A hot day in the summer killed all the chicks. Mind you, this is a true story. Every body called Jack, Jack in the box. Rumor had it that he made a ton working as a trucker on the Alaskan Pipeline. Jack is one of these conspiracy theory survivalists you read about in the news doing really stupid things in anticipation of the nucular winter. I met Jack. Friendly, but a little off. He's free with investment advice. And, as memory serves, he's a Cubs fan. I would have expected no less. As a tribute to Jack, I memorialized his nom de guerre. ![]() |
