Native Dash XP Sunglasses

http://www.nativeyewear.com/prod_det...hp?style_id=20

I hate tinted faceshields & will never use or own one. I wear shades under my helmet. I've been wearing a pair of 10yo RayBan's. I love RayBan's but the metal frame have bent so many times that I can't tell if they're the original shape anymore. I also wanted a polarized lens since that makes a huge difference with clarity.

I purchased them for $115 from http://vfrworld.com/forums/apparel-r...rtinggoods.com these to replace the RayBan's.

Pros:
featherweight
polarized
changing lenses take literally 10 seconds per lens
4 different lenses available
about 25 different color/lens combos
air vents on top of frames
comes with a case that features a padded compartment, 3 lens pockets, an accessory compartment, cleaning cloth & separate pouch

Cons:
cost (somehow, $115 for shades seems silly)
featherweight (might be a little too flimsy, only time will tell)
if the lenses are that easy to change, it might be easy for them to fall out
the frame ever so slightly puts a shadow above your field of view (I think inside the helmet, this won't be an issue)

Kc you ever had a problem with seeing pearl colors with polarized lens? I have tried a few pairs and I don't like them. I get strange colors, blue, greens, purple when looking thru my visor or in my rear view mirror in the car. I took mine back and got non-polarized ones and am very happy.

The rainbow effect comes from how they treat the window or plastic. I get a minor rainbow on the side windows in the GTI but nothing in the F150. I can't wear polarized in my aircraft since it will create a rainbow effect on the aircraft windows. I have a pair of Arnette's that stay in my flight bag for that. On my bike, I've never had an issue since I only ever use the standard clear plastic faceshield.

Yeah I got that effect out of my Bolle's. I tried to live with it but had to exchange them. I have a clear visor but must be made cheaper than others.

I went the same route two years ago - my RBs were getting junked. I ended up buying a set of Birdz on eBay that came with 3 sets of lenses (mirror, smoke, yellow) and a nice carying pouch. They look extremley similar to these in style. I think I paid $22 + $6 shipping. I keep them in my saddlebags and only use them for riding. So far so good - quality has been surprisingly good - haven't failed me thus far.

I wore them for the first time today. They are extremely comfortable. The SportFlex lenses are FREAKING AMAZING! I could not believe how much clarity they added to driving to my favorite restaurant. The normal polarized lens is just like any other sunglass lens. The only real issue would be the minor shading effect the thick top frame creates.

Maui Jim's are sweet. I just can't bring myself to drop $200+ on shades. $115 is bad enough. I was looking at Oakley Half Jackets but the Native were $60 less with a better warranty & multiple lenses.
