Alpinestar GPS-3 Boots

Sometime in Nov of 06 I purchased a pair of Alpinestar GPS-3 boots from Dennis Kirk. Currently they are on close out and the latest price is $61. Check with them by phone for availability first before ordering to see if they have the size/color you want.

I use these boots now everytime I ride. I have ridden in temps in the mid 40's F and as warm as mid to upper 80's F. No real problems with feet getting cold that I can tell, tho maybe thats a personal thing.

Fromteh Dennis Kirk description:
  • Leather and durable Lorica upper with a large instep flex zone for increased comfort
  • PU compound structure ankle-support system with high-density contoured padding for superior shock absorption
  • Injected PU plates at heel and toe and contoured shin plate
  • Boot liner is open-cell foam
  • Easy, personalized calf adjustment with wide stretch strap, hook-and-loop cover flap and unique semi-rear zippered closure system
  • Interchangeable snap-in attachment bi-injected PU toe slider
  • Superior comfort and feel from Alpinestars exclusive high-performance rubber sole
  • Increased visibility from reflective inserts
The zipper has a little velcro pull strap on it. It's cheezy IMO and on one boot is coming apart. But other than that the boot is a quality item. Mine are a EURO size 40 and fit great. I wear a US size 6 in shoes and these boots fit very well.

PROS:

Good fit (for me)
Leather is good quailty
Stitching is double stitched, except where the vents are on the instep on the foot
Rubber sole is comfortable for walking in
Velcro flap closures make for easy on/off

CONS:
Velcor Flap closure at the top is not snug around my leg (could judt be me) allowing the top of the boot to sometimes snag the foot peg when taking off from a stop and lifting your foot from the ground.
Replaceable to sliders seem a bit difficult to remove, not that I have yet to drag the toe of my boot.
Shift lever pad on the left boot could be a tad bit thicker.

Overall:
I feel that this is a good quality boot that suits my riding needs well. It is comfortable and even with the cons, I feel this boot was wel worth the money I spent. I rate it at thumb:
