4th gen. fender eliminator

this is my first post , so forgive me if it is kind of vague. if you look at the pictures closely you can see how they go with my instructions. sorry pictures are not in correct order, click on see photo in step #4

I saw the post from reg71 and figured i could make my own. i used a 22 gauge piece of sheet metal, a spray can of paint, and somewhat basic tools.
1) trace around bottom of body work with a marker, then remove body work
using a shop manual if necessary also unplug the license light and remove wire from fender
2) using your choice of cutting device( i used a reciprocating saw) cut along
the line you made. use a file and utility knife to clean edes.
3) use the license plate as a template on a piece of cardboard leaving about
5" above plate for attaching points. fold the cardboard above plate and
hold up to bottom of fender to mark where the reinforcement tabs are
under the fender.cut out cardboard to test fit and adjust accordingly.
4) trace template onto sheetmetal and cut with a good pair of tin snips.
( SEE PHOTO ). i used a bench mounted grinding wheel to clean up the edges. but you can use a file if a grinding wheel is not available. if you use a grinding wheel hold the metal at a slight upward angle or it will get bent over.

5) bend the sheetmetal using corner of a bench or piece of wood and a
hammer. test fit and trim until good fit is accomplished. clean metal with
fine emry cloth and spray paint your choice of color ( i used rustoleum)
6) mark a hole in each of the mounting tabs ( should be 3 ) and drill 1/4"
holes for mounting tabs and license plate holes. hold metal up to bike,
mark holes and drill. attach bracket to fender with 1/4" x 3/4" bolts,
washers, and nuts. i recommend nylon locking nuts. a good hardware
store will have them.
7) mount plate and reattach rear body section.
NOTE: i saved the old license light and will use the wires to attach new license lights still using factory connectors. i recommend the kind that are an attaching bolt with the led built in. they are all over the internet.
All the supplies cost less than $20.00.less the lights. the biggest expense will be the lights ( around 30 bucks or so)
