'87 VFR700 parts bike or project bike for sale

I have my '87 VFR700 I'm going to part out or sell as is.
If there are parts you need let me know. The engine is excellent and runs. I don't have all the body work though. Wasn't all with the bike when I bought her. Gas tank if great, primered/sanded to be painted... never got around to doing that yet.
But, if any of you are out there and need parts or the bike in whole, let me know. The whole bike is $650 (pick up). Just don't have the time to get all the little things done to restore her. I'd like to just sell the whole bike as I don't have all the necessary tools to dissasemble the whole bike, engine and what not.

dibs on the seat cowl or fairing.

If your VFR has the same sort of squared off tail fairing my 86 has I would like to take it if you part out the bike. Its a sort of three sided box thing with pretty much straight lines. I am assuming that all 2nd gen VFR's have the same body parts. My seat cowl was torn into 5 pieces. I have tried to put pictures of the cowl up in the classified section under WANTED but don't know how to add pictures to the ad?

How much for the tank shipped to 21001, MD? Do you have the seat cowl?

87 vfr 700 seat cowl does fit an 86 vfr 700

I called out for the seat cowl the day before yesterday (ie first). I did not know if the 87 was the same as an 86. It is. I already have a competitve bidder, the guy called "army" who is asking for the tank today. How will you handle such competition for a part? I live in SoCal (Riverside). How would you handle tranfer of funds? COD, UPS, FEDex? A new seat cowl goes for $140. How will you show condition? send pics? WISH I COULD BUY THE WHOLE BIKE. Problem is tranporting it from Arizona. I don't have a truck and gas is around $5.00 per gallon on the road. Could get expensive for a parts bike. I actually need every piece of fairing for my bike's is fairly well cracked and battered after 22 years of hard riding (44,000 miles). I also need a good smooth tank, I dropped mine from 5 ft off the floor recently.

You have stumbled on an interesting conumdrum. If you sell it as a complete project bike you are actually giving away the customer list when you sell the bike to whoever says they are going to build it back up. I can't remember the price you were asking for the bike as a whole, but it looks like its gonna be worth more in parts than as a project bike. and once its gone the guy who buys it has the list of customers at hand and can set his own price for the parts to recoup his cost and make a profit on what he does not use. Look what a mess you have started. I'm only joking, sorta. DKC

call backrest bolster/pad

I'll buy the bolster or back rest pad if you have it. If you have decent rear turn signals I need them as well as the tail light housing seat cowl. I'd appreciate quotes on any of the side and front fairing stuff that is not terribly cracked or scraped up. My front cowl is repairable but cracked at the rear view mirrors. I'd guess most are.

Frodus v army. My misunderstanding. Where's picture?

Frodus, if you read the thread you will see that I mistakenly thought that Army was trying to cut in on my request for a taillight cowl. He was looking for a "single seat cowl". I thought he was stepping on my toes and he kindly put up a picture to show me the difference in what we were hoping to get off of the ARIZONA_VFR_700 mystery parts bike. You asked ARIZONA to put up a picture of the parts bike. Maybe he is like me and doesn't know how to attach a picture to the BUY and SELL FORUM. One thing is for sure, Army knows how to attach a picture. So with army's help we might get ARIZONA to get off his dime and reveal his intentions. If he wants to change his mind better sooner than later, I'm sure we all feel that its sort of chickenxxxx of him to back out, but I'm sure we have all done it ourselves a time or two. The first guy to answer ARizona's thread was fatso1277 who encouraged him to get some WD40 and wrenchs and rebuild it? What did Fatso1277 say? Well, it sounded like he tried to encourage Arizona to fix the bike.

Its time to put up or shut down the thread. I'd like to hear from Arizona and see just what he's hiding in that bag.

it doesn't really matter.... the OP was trying to sell his bike... or part it out..... and some people decided to post.... in a way that was differing the actual topic... which was... the OP trying to sell his bike " parts bike or project bike for sale".....

Argue what you like, but I was trying to respect the OP of actually trying to sell his bike.

I'm sorry if I offended.... but I was trying to draw the OP out, get him to post pics... not some other guy posting pics of a bike (or parts) that IS NOT FOR SALE!!!!!

I wasn't responding to you, but Army86VFR750..... so, don't get so upset... Some people don't understand the idea of a "thread"...
