Rainy day ride 1-25-08 N. SLO Cty

Rain, rain, go away.

Oh well, I give. I will not miss one more day of riding.

Here goes guys. Come along with me. Put on your long handles, though. It gets a little cool on the family jewels once they get wet.

You can't see it so well in the pic, but there is a steady rain coming down. The temp gauge reads 50 but it feels a little cooler. Let's hit the road...

That river back there is dry most of the year, but they tell me it has water underground year round. It's starting to get cooler now that I am good and soaked. Only about 8 miles from home.

Apparently that guy didn't adjust speed for the rain. A couple things of note on the rainy day ride, don't downshift with the revs way up, and if you think tarsnakes are slick on a warm day, whoah boy! Also, paint stripes are a big no-no.

Here's a pic of a curious onlooker while I was snappin pictures. No fear in these guys...

Should take a stop here and snap a quick shot of the obligatory vineyard. They look a lot different this time of year. Funny to think the grapes grown on that hill behind my bike end up in wine that travels all over the world...

We're cruising on El Pomar for those wondering. The direction is more or less east at the moment. The rain is starting to slack off but the chill stays with us. That's okay, I'm smiling through chattering teeth, hear that engine growl!

Now we're back on Hwy 41 heading towards home. It's a beautiful day anytime you get to ride. I'm loving it.

Getting close to home now. Just head on around the 180 then down through the curves that take us to the bottom of the grade.

The temp is up to 57 now! It just keeps getting better. Every stop for a pic brings a warm gust of air up by my right leg. Feels good.

Way off there in the distance is where I live. The road stretching up the middle is Hwy 41 and will take us almost right to my door.

One more pic coming up and then it's pretty much a straight shot back to the house which is about 2.5-3 miles from this point. I feel much better now.

That's it. Now to home we go. Back on the road and over the bridge and then into town. I hope you guys feels as relieved as I do. The winter threads were starting to get to me and I needed this catharsis.

Again, I hope you enjoyed your time in Reggie's World. The door is always open, and I am happy to host. Come join me and the Central Coast Crew and we'll take a ride.

Reg,
Thanks for posting these...I really enjoyed seeing your ride today. I love the shot of the Jag in the mud. Looks like the road was actually dry in the latter half of the photos. I would have liked to ride, and actually pondered it for a brief moment, but man, it has been raining really hard up here in the Bay Area today. Reminded me of monsoon season in Singapore last month, but it was a lot colder here.

I'm still planning on us doing that lunch meet 'n greet in the Hollister area some time in the near future.

I must say Scratch is looking sexy and happy peeking out her new garage with her new fairings and new legs to go along with new tires Sounds like your ready for some Washington riding now that your riding rain or shine, I rode into work this morning and the temperature hit 22* I usually don't make a habit riding in those temps because it put a new meaning into the word shrinkage lol.

P.S. Every time I see a picture of your red truck I can't help but think of your thread on do it yourself tire install

yeah I wanted to do it today but with the crazy weather I figured it wasn't going off. The rain had stopped in the latter photos but the roads were still wet. It's hard to tell in the pics. There was some mud instead of sand also. I'm sure I'll be up that way before too much longer.

yeah, we kind of got a break as the low pressure pushed the bulk of the rain out over the ocean so I had to make a break for it.

I don't miss changing them manually at all! I also rarely ever drive that big red gas guzzler! I move it from one parking spot to another...
