East Bay Skyline Drive, Grizzly Peak Blvd and Old Tunnel Road Ride

East Bay Skyline Drive, Grizzly Peak Blvd and Old Tunnel Road Ride

This is my favorite Lunch Ride. The roads in the Oakland / Berkeley hills are excellent for Sporkbikes. Old Tunnel Road is a very tight, smooth and technical road that is perfect for scrubbing in new tires. Grizzly Peak Blvd is where the famous East Bay Wall is located. This is the most popular sportbike hangout in the East Bay. The East Bay Skyline drive is a great road with great views all the way along the ridge.

The route explained.
  • From my office in Emeryville, I go along the frontage road to Gilman street in Berkeley which is also called Highway 13
  • I take that road all the way through Berkeley and make a left on Old Tunnel Road, which is just before 13 hits 24.
  • Take Old Tunnel Road all the way up to the top of the hill and veer right onto Grizzly Peak Blvd.
  • If I have extra time sometimes I will go left on Grizzly Peak Blvd and go to the famous East Bay Wall. This is the East Bay equivalent of Alice's Restaurant. After visiting the wall, turn around and go back, south down Grizzley Peak Blvd.
  • Continue down Grizzly Peak Blvd until it becomes Skyline Drive.
  • I continue down Skyline Drive all the way to the end and turn right on Golf Links Road.
  • I take Golf Links Road down to 580 and head back to work on the slab.
