VFR on the track at Race City - Calgary

Hey, I was out for my first track day last Sunday on the '99 VFR I acquired this summmer (first for me & the VFR). It was all good, after about 3 hours I hit 230 km/hr at the end of the straight but made an error exiting turn 3 heading for 4. I went into the grass & down Oh well, I learned a lot, like the VFR is a lot more bike than my last, an SV650S. My old SV was there piloted by my buddy & he kept passing me. He's had a total of 3 track days on the SV and has obviously learned a lot. Oh well, I'll be out there next year but first I need a new rear brake lever as I bent mine 180 degrees around. Some plastic needs repair/replacing but damage was minimal to me & the bike compared to what it would have been on the street. Live & learn.

Sorry to hear you went down. Hopefully it's not banged up too badly. I think the VFR is heavier than the SV. But as you put in more time on it you will become used to the extra weight and learn the quirks of the bike and what it likes and doesn't like. Best of luck on your next track outing.

Hello from Halifax. Sorry to here of your troubles, nice pictiure of Ricky, he hangs here in Halifax and I had a chance to party and golf with him once. He's true to his character.

Hey Terry,
I grew up in Halifax too but left a long time ago. My brother insists I could look just like Ricky if I grew out the sideburns, 'stache & combed my hair that way. I ran into Mr. Lahey at Peggy's Cove a few years ago when I was back visiting but it sure would be fun to party with Ricky, Julian & Bubbles sometime.

Thanks for your kind words, Vinny. I learned a lot (I hope) so I don't intend to fall again.

Hi Nitro, I don't know if looking like Ricky would be a good thing or not, Both Bubbles and Ricky were in Fox Harbour with us and we went out partying in Pugwash that night, needless to say it involved liquor + super stretch limo + a Magnum PI Ferrari and at the end or the night SECURITY. The Peggy's Cove road is a great run on the Viffer.
All The Best.....

The VFR is a more than capeable track bike. You should take some classes and head back out next spring.
