IMHO the boys at Honda R&D are right up there with The Almighty as far as being creative geniuses. Therefore I'M loathe to perform elective surgey on Mr. Honda and mines motorcyle.

My $64 question - does lowering the bike affect sttering or stability in any way, at speed or otherwise? If so how?

Hi all-

I am looking at getting some exhaust work done on my '06 vfr. I am looking to get a little performance boost, drop some weight and look cool. I am actually looking to keep the bike as quiet as possible. The tech at the shop I go to said to just get clip-ons. He said full exhaust would be total overkill.

That being said, Can anyone recommend some good clip ons that are relatively quiet and will work with the factory side bags/rack?

i've been toying with idea of putting these on for some time. i just couldn't justify spending $100+ and getting an unknown set off ebay.
one night i was perusing craigslist and saw an add for "any color, any size HID kit" for only $60. i figured for 60 bucks, why not. all i have to do is take a nice "scenic" ride to E. LA (during daylight hours naturally) and pick them up.
i was pleasantly surprised to find out they were being sold from an actual store and not some guy's garage. they're a no name brand but they do have slim ballasts which makes installing much simpler for a bike. which by the way requires no cutting into the factory wiring. just plug and play. i've had them on for a few weeks now and i gotta tell ya, night and day. the visibility at night is so greatly improved. i only replaced the low beams (H4's) since i rarely use the high beams and to be quite frankly, you won't really need them with the HID's on.
i plan to go back there some time this week to pick up a set and convert my girlfriend's car to HID's.

just an testimonial for anyone who's looking for mods to perform on their bikes or for those of you northerners who are forced to garage your bikes for the winter months and need a project to keep you sane.

5th Gen headers on a 6th Gen

Things are finally moving forward and I am getting close to being able to do the exhaust on my 6th gen. I've already got my 5th gen catless/sensorless headers and will soon be ordering the rest of the pieces. Along with this will be new exhaust gaskets.

This brings up the question of which gaskets I should be using when I install the headers. My assumption is that the crush gaskets for where the headers meet the engine should be for the 6th gen, while the two gaskets for where the rear downpipes connect to the collector should be from the 5th gen. Is this correct or should I be ordering all of my gaskets for the 5th gen? Does it matter?

So I was really hoping to rebuild my forks with race tech springs and gold valves, but I can't swing the 600 bucks at the moment. What are some other good mods that are cheaper? I have a 96 VFR with 42xxx on the clock. Already have bar risers and a micron pipe from the PO. I am ordering a K&N filter and putting that in next pay check but what are some other good mods? I do was doing a 140 mile commute on it and days that it is above 50 I still will be. Thank you guys and ladies for all of hte help I am sure will be coming.

I had a clearence issue with my streched lower fairing and my exaust on the right side so I added A thermal exaust wrap to the headers and thermal fiberglass backed heat reflective tape to the inside of the fairing. Everthing you need to do this costs about $90(that includes new exaust gaskets). The wrap and tape I used was from a company called DEI(Design Engineering, Inc.) I used their Titanium Exaust wrap. Purchased off of EBAY. Instead of clamps to secure the wrap I used 240# single strand stainless steel tempered fishing leader(No ugly clamps to look at and it only costs about $4 for 15ft of this stuff:thumbsup:)
