Mounting Conti Road Attacks

I took the wheels off and brought them to the dealer along with a new set of Conti Road Attacks. After I got them back on the bike I see that the front was mounted wrong. The dealer's mechanic and I disagree on how the front should be mounted - here's the reason.

The Conti Road Attack has a "V" tread pattern which is angled on both tires. When the rear tire is mounted, the pointy end of the "V" will move in the direction of tire rotation, i.e., the open end of the "V" contacts the road after the pointy end.

The dealer mounted the front tire the same way based on the tread pattern, but the direction of rotation arrow on the tire indicates the tire is mounted the wrong way. I've checked the direction of rotation arrow on the wheel, itself, to make sure I put the wheel back on correctly. The dealer is a Honda dealer in Tucson and should know better you'd think.

Would someone with these tires please take a look at your front and confirm that the front tread pattern hits the road opposite to how the rear does, i.e., on the front, the open end of the "V" hits the road first.

I'm looking at buying those same tires,let me know how you like them...and i always thought you mounted tires in the direction of the rotation arrow on the tire...

The conti's are A-1, awesome, can't say enough.

I took the tire back to the dealer and convinced him that Conti had not made a mistake molding in the direction of rotation arrow, and he remounted the tire correctly. Ready to ride

i have the same tires and i checked them after reading your post. at first i thought i had the same problem, but after further investigation they were mounted right. whats funny is the rotation arrow on the rear and the half arrows on the rear tred point in the same direction. on the front they point oppisite ways. is that a half arrow or part of the tred design?

The direction arrow on the sidewall is the one to use. On my front Road Attack, the arrows molded into the tread surface and the arrow on the sidewall indicate different mounting directions. There have been previous posts on this, and there's a link to an explanation on Conti's web site somewhere.

I am glad to see good reviews as I am thinking of putting these on my bike next but I like the Metzlers that I have on there now too. Has anyone gone from the Metzler Mez 4 to the Conti Road Attacks? Are they better? Thanks in advance.

I'm mounting some Conti's on an Aprilia Falco this week, from all the reviews I'm looking forward to testing them. I love my Avon Storms on my VFR and I've been debating checking out the Road Attacks next time so I'll post a comparo when I have some miles on the Conti's.
