I'm looking to protect my tank from leg/jacket scratching. I will ride every day with protective gear. What is the best product?

also looking for repair manual...recommendations as to publishers and places to purchase for my '98 VFR800i?

with thanks,
Johnc

If you want to use a tank bag as well, the Baglux / Bagster tank cover and bag is a good way to go.

For a manual, I use Haynes and am happy with it. Others don't like it. I have quite a bit of engineering experience, so maybe I can 'read between the lines.'

The Haynes manual is ok for someone with repair experience, but the procedures can be a bit generalized and sometimes the procedure can be made to be harder than it should. I found my factory service manual on eBay for 35 bucks with shipping. It is very informative and easy to read.

www.snidersproducts.com for clear (static cling) film that protects the gas tank. I like it. be patient putting it on. I find the unprotected paint will show marks from the very first ride so be careful until you are protected.

If you would like the service manual for your bike, look under the VFR wiki on this site - LINK. As for the tank, I had a friend at an auto tint shop put on the 3M film they use on car hoods. Works great. There is also site that sells pre-cut kits but I can't recall the name. A search should pull it up.
