1999 Fuel Injector problem

Hi everyone, I have a problem with one injector cutting in and out. It goes away when I add concentrated injector cleaner to the fuel but missed a couple of tanks and it seems that it is stuck. Has anyone experienced this before and is there any cure other than replacing the injector.
Thanks for your time.
Randy.

I have heard of companies that can test and rebuild injectors after you mail it to them, however I don't know if the savings over buying a new one is significant.

have you tried some seafoam? It works wonders on engines with carbon build-up. It is probably worth trying.

I haven't seen that problem on a bike, but we get honda cars with either bad injectors or clogged inlet screens. If you remove the injector you can remove and clean the inlet screen (carefully!) and clean it out.
Cutting in and out though sounds like a bad injector or wiring.

Thanks for your time.
Randy.
Just want to say thanks for the replies and let you know it turned out to be a loose coil wire. The down side is that it cost me 300 bones to figure it out. I will pick it up tomorrow and give it a good run.

when I purchased my 98 it had been sitting for almost 5 years in a shed. the injectors were completely blocked by ald gummed up fuel. before I sprung for new ones I took off the intake system under the airbox and soaked the entire assembly in denatured alchol for 5 days. When I reassembled it to my pleasent suprise it fired over imeadiately and ran like new. I did not have to replace orings to the injectors since they never were seperated from the throttle bodies. if you have the time and the cost of new injectors is something you would like to avoid I would give this a try!

Thanks steven113, my injectors were fine, it turned out to be a loose coil wire. I was kind of wierd because it wasn't back firing from unburned fuel, it was just running on three cylinders. I am not sure how the fuel delivery works, I am thinking it shuts down the injector when there isn't a spark but that is just a guess. Anyway thanks for your reply.
