5th Gen Mid-pipe/Exhaust
OK, I can't help myself. I was going to keep my 2000 bone stock except for a Gerbing heat controller but I have to do some mods. Right after the fender trim comes the right side high exhaust. Trouble is a web search is not turning up any systems. I am finding slip-ons but that isn't much help replacing the all-in-one piece stocker. Do the usual shops like Yoshi, Micron, Two. Bros. still offer the mid-pipe/slip-on/brackets but you have to call to get them? I have a Yoshi RS3 that might work if I could find the mid-pipe/bracket. Of course I will have to play with injection maps right after that :) Any advice on finding the exhaust hardware?
Thanks, Pat |

I've had 3 different brands of exhaust on my 00. All 3 came with the mid pipe as do all slip on's for the 5th Gen. If there isn't a mid pipe, you're getting ripped off & switch brands. Also, ditch the Yoshimura. Yoshi is Suzuki & belongs on a Suzuki's. It's kind of like putting Ford wheels on a Chevy truck. It may fit, but it just doesn't look right.

I'm actually looking into exhausts for my 2000, and insofar the only manufacturer I know about that still has 2000 exhausts in production is Hindle. Unfortunately, you have to buy the midpipe and the exhaust separately, although the price isn't awful (I was quoted for about $470 for the parts altogether). You can choose a high-pipe or stock-style slip-on setup from them, and then pick your muffler.
Personally I'm thinking of going with the high pipe and their Euro-style Aluminum oval muffler. I think that would look excellent on a yellow VFR (or any VFR for that matter). |
