Calling all 5th Genners (Mirror Question)

I have a 1999 5th Gen looking to upgrade my mirrors as I have to replace my old ones and upper cowl, do to an accident!

So here is my question will 2002 to 2004 VFR 800 mirrors be compatible to fit on my 1999 VFR 800?

Any thoughts or answers to this question!

I believe the answer is no. I looked at Tori's 6g one time and there were a few things that looked like they wouldn't work. I never tried thwm, though as it looked like a no go. the y2k mirrors are what I upgraded to a while back and I have no complaints with them... you can see them in my avatar to the left there...

Thanks for the input as I studied pictures and just figured it might work as I have looked at the Y2K ones and also the TARGAS. Have you heard any good or bad things about them, but as for your Y2K's how long have you had them and how do you like them?

I upgraded my 1999 to 2000 spec mirrors as the rubber boot cover thingies on the stalk of the mirror looked decidedly low rent especially given the quality of the rest of the machine.

I have not been disappointed. They are well designed, look good, afford me great visibility. I haven't had issues with them being too short but I am pretty thin.

Overall, they are a great upgrade. They are pricey. I bought them from servicehonda.com and think they ran about $60/side if I remember correctly.

I am sure there are cheaper alternatives but even though they weren't original to the bike, I wanted OEM parts to keep it as original as possible.

You could see them on my bike in my gallery.

My y2k came stock on my y2k and I have no complaints.

I've been planning on changing out my 1999 mirrors to the Y2K mirrors, is it a straight swap or is there additional hardware required? The Y2K's look great.

no experience at all with the targas. as for the y2ks. I have had them over a year. they are condomless so more visually appealing IMO. They are stable enough to see well I think. They stick out far enough without being weird looking. If you want them farther out, though I have see some spacers on ebay and other places to stick them another inch out. I would guess they would still perform about the same with the spacers as long as they were tightened down...

Yup, the y2k's are a drop in swap. I like 'em.

I wasnt looking for more length when I installed, but I didnt notice any. Still - less filling, tastes great.
