Hondaline Rear Rack for VF500F 84-86

I really dropped the ball this week by not purchasing a very rare and hard to find accessory that popped up on eBay: a Hondaline rear mount rack to fit 84-86 VF500F that bolts onto the side of the tail without modification, and gives you a smallish platform to strap a dry bag/etc. over your rear fender. Anyone have ANY information about who/what/when/where/how this accessory came from, and where I might start my search to get one of my own?
Thank you in advance for any info, and I have cash-in-hand for the next one I hear about!

I still have the one for my 1000, think it would fit without too much work? It has some chips in the coating. I won't be putting it back on, it's mostly going to be a track bike. I can take some pics tomorrow if you'd like.

Yes, is it the black Hondaline aftermarket version? In any case, if you sent a photo, I could tell very quickly if it will work for me. We are going in very different directions: you=track, me=tour, so this may work out well...thank you.

I'll take some pics and it is the Hondaline unit. It matches the lines of the tail section. I'll also get some dimensions off it for you, should help in seeing if it can be made to fit. Worked well when I was touring with it, heavier weight than the kind they make now for cruisers.

And the mount looks nothing like the 1000f one. The 1000f one is three piece as well.

The one I have for my 1000F is a single piece like that one, unless you count the angle brakets that bolt to it. It also looks smaller and more, um, stylish? Wraps around the tail section nice.

The Hondaline one I have is two chrome rails, with an aluminum plate that connects them. The side rails attach to the frame at the front, and to the hole on the underside of the side rails at the rear. 4 bolts hold the plate to the two brackets. I still have the Hondaline box and instruction sheet it came in as well. It is on in the pic of the bike in my sig.

Thank you guys, I just pulled the trigger on the eBay rack for the 500f, this should work perfectly, and we won't need to wonder if there is a difference between 1000f and 500f rack. I really appreciate you pointing this one out, as they go very quickly (and I have been searching daily).

There's no pic for you. Mines a black tube style like the one on Ebay. Maybe they had a couple versions of racks?

Glad I could help you out. Figured you'd be scanning pretty regularly, but though I'd make sure you saw it.

Well, duh! When you said sig pic, I thought avatar. Very nice, I remember when my 1000F looked like that. I'll have to wash it and take some shots. It's still the same shape, just different.
