What would be the effect on the bike without a proper air filter?

I've been riding my VF750F for a year now for commuting 100km a day, 6 days a week with just a converted air filter using a stocking (thin fabric)as an air filter wrapped inside the air filter box, sometimes without air filter. would it reduce the engine power without it? i can't distinguise since i bought my bike without air filter. i would appreciate your opinions. Thanks.

I would get a better air filter, if I had to make one.
Good luck-

Mac

might make the bike run a bit lean, but opening the airflow (either in or out) *should* give you an increase in HP....not enough to notice in this case

get a better filter if you can

More HP is NOT the reason for having an air filter. If you continue to run the engine without a filter, the dust and dirt pulled into the engine will RUIN IT!!!

sorry if I was unclear, running with no filter will open your air intake and give you a HP gain....a gain that you won't be able to notice

running with an air filter will drop your hp, a loss you will not notice.

*but* running with an air filter will prevent things from grenading your engine!

and running v4's are the best kind!
