OEM replacement brake lever? (noob needs help)

I feel like a total idiot.. I dropped my bike this morning like a fool. I was comin into work 2 hours early to work some OT. I had jus walked out of my garage, got on the bike and was trying to fix my pants riding up into my crotch..and i jus went over to the right..got my leg out of the way.. and b4 i had even realized i dropped it i was up and got the bike back up. I then got off and put it on its center stand.. The bike was still running, after visually inspecting.. No damage to motor that i can see or fairing..mirrors, lights all fine... it hit on the brake lever and footpeg..and it "appears like they took the force" The brake lever is totally krinkled up...was almost impossible to ride to work..and use the front brake..but I had no choice and had to ride the bike...My car is barricaded in with crap and i would have been late...yes for OT.

To make a long story short i called the only honda dealer around here when i got to work real quick..and they quoted me $54 with tax to get the part..that seems a lil rediculous since they charge $58 per hour. So Im thinking about bending the lever back with some pliars or vice grips for now..ordering the full parts assembly manual.. and doing it myself. Could anyone recommend a place to find an OEM or real close to OEM brake lever for the 86 vf500f. This bike was in flawless condition when I got it 1 month ago..only 17k miles.. everything is totally stock on it and in great condition (except the brake lever now).. but I want to keep it toally stock..the way it was when it was brand new.

This has been such a crap day soo far...and now I have to be at work 2 hours longer than normal.. the whole time jus pissed off about dropping my baby..over somthin stupid like fixing my pants..+ i had to speed to work cuz they shutdown the road to work and i had to use some back roads jus to make it to OT ontime

Sucks, man.

Just want to warn you - don't try to bend the lever back unless you're OK with using a broken one for a while. Aluminum levers will tend to snap right off if you un-bend them.

And the brake lever for a 86 VF500F is listed at $12.94 at Cycle Parts Nation.

thanx man appreciate the help.. guess I wont be bending it back..cuz i dont need to break it off and risk cutting my hand open..

Looking at a couple service manuals..so that i can replace this myself properly.. Ive seen this Clymer one looks popular and then there is the official service repair manual... Can anyone suggest one? Or which one would be more detailed for a novice mechanic to learn from?

o p.s.// i guess dropping my bike somehow broke the horn.. cuz i cant beepbeep anymore...
kinda scary since it has the stealth exhaust..

kinda funny tho being able to drive up behind a walker goin 35.. and drive right by her..without her hearing or even looking over... i think a bicycle might be louder
