UPDATE! First ride! (Got my license!)
Woo hoo! Back on the road again. I had my bike license in 89, and sold my bike, so I never worried when I got my CLD and the MVA didn't put my Class M on it.
Well, now with gas prices, I wish that never happened. BUT, on the sunny side, I attended the MSF/MVA Safety and Certification Class.. For 300 bucks, they teach you proper techniques of riding, (general, defensive and offensive). Then you get the writen test, riding evaluation for a Class M waiver for MD, and the MSF Basic Riders Course card, which is required before you can think about riding a bike on a military base. The bikes were Nighthawk and Shadow 250's, and the instructors were great. I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone just getting a bike. I lost a lot of skills and learned more than I ever thought I would. The is also a basic riders course II, which you use your bike, and a advanced course.

Congrats. Feels good, even though it is not your first time, huh?
Now be careful and don't lose it right away by celebrating too hard.

I took her out for her maiden solo ride tonight. What a flashback! It was like riding on air. I couldn't believe it was so smooth!!!
As for as taking it easy, I am very careful on the road on a bike. Especially now that the military is so strict on bike safety. It's almost to the point of command saying "No Bikes!!". This past week, one of our Infantry 1SGs was at a sanctioned race at Summit Point and wrecked. At this time, he's partially paralized from the waste down. Hopefully, its just a spinal compression, and he'll be OK. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he goes through PT. On a more personal note; I'm sporting some major chub!!! Wow!!!! What a ride!

Congrats on getting the magic "M" back on you DL.
Being in the military & a MSF RiderCoach & USAF SportBike Coach, I always like to hear that someone enjoyed the class. 90% of my students come in & say they are only there "because the military makes me take this class." My personal goal is to ensure that every single one of them leaves being glad they took the class. KC-10 FE out... ![]()

Thanks all!
KC-10, I'm guessing you're in McGuire? I know a guy in flight operations named Tim. He drives a Impala SS, had a black Camaro he wrecked a few months ago. Know him? Free NJ?! You should live in the Communist state of MD!! They call it the free state. The only thing free is getting in. Getting out will cost you a fortune!! Since it cost so much to live here, you never catch up enough to leave!! I actually joined the class for several reasons; I heard it was a great class; the area grew so much I wanted to learn the right way to ride in todays enviroment; the insurance discount; the MFS card for military access; and if I was going to drop a bike learning the right way, I'd rather it be theirs! I'd definately do it again. In fact, I'm riding back up there and hanging out on the riding course after the class. That box kicked my ASS! I'll burn a tank of gas to beat it if I have too!! DAM THE BOX!!

The only way I would live anywhere near DC is if the USAF forced me too. MD is one of only 2 states that have worse firearms laws AAANNNDDD similar property taxes. You have my condolences.
Tim with an Impala? Doesn't ring a bell. KC-10 FE out... ![]()
