VFR Longevity--- your odometer

OK riders..... Just how durable are these motors? I sold my first 1986 VFR750F when it had 55,000 on it and it was pristine.

I just picked up a 1986 VFR700 now with 14,000. Who wins with the highest mileage on the odometer?

I have pretty low miles...only ~36k for now. I bought it with 23k. There was a guy selling a viffer in San Diego 1.5 years ago with 105k on it....some guy on here bought it as well. There are a lot of people with more than that, but I still thought that was impressive.

I ran into a '98 VFR that had 79K miles and still ran great. The owner said that he didn't have to do any major work, just an occassional valve adjustment.

Mine doesn't have high mileage, only 11K.

Ask ANY Honda technician & they will tell you that VFR motors are pretty much the most bullet proof one ever installed into a Honda motorcycle. When I lived in Germany, I knew a guy with a 94 that had 275000 KM's on it.

KC-10 FE out...

Does anybody have any 83-85 VF's with high mileage?

With the guys I've talked to, many 1st gen VF's didn't go very far without that oil modification.

Until I met a gentleman at Autozone with an 85" VF750 with 23k on the clock.
So I asked him, "since you have such low miles, how come you don't have the oil modification?"

He responded, "low mileage...... *laughing* ....... my friend, my bike has rolled the odo over without that oil modd".

I stood there in amazement!

I hope to meet him someday again....

I only have 10087 on my 1995. Might not be the most but might be in the running for the least amount of miles for the year. Till I get bucked off.

I have an 06 with 14000 miles.
But I heerd tell of some guy that put 425,000 clicks on one before he replaced the engine and put another 400000,k replaced the engine a third time got 250,000 on that one. I think he bought a new one after that. ran some kind of hotshot messenger service down under. I think that's over a million clicks on the frame. Do not know if this is true but it might be.
I had 42000mi on my 86 before I replaced her she was still running strong if she hadn't briken an engine mount casting. I would still be ridin her.

Not quite right but almost right. He did not replays the engine the second time, He bought a new bike. I read an article (canīt find it again.) about this guy and he is incredible. He have had many bikes and most of them have hit over 100k miles.
