Help re-installing Petcock
Okay...so with the aid of the attached pictures someone can please help me re-install everything and attach the lines properly.
I've labeled the hoses that are attached to the bike (located under the tank) as A & B ![]() Another pic shows where Line A goes. ![]() The last Pic is of the Petcock and all the assorted Nipples and such. ![]() I'm gonna venture a wild guess and say Hose #3 on the Petcock goes to Hose B on the bike. What about everything else?

#3 is your main gas line, #2 stays open and #1 is for the vacuum line.

Great! Thanks!
Question #2: When I tun the Fuel Selector Knob from On to Off and to RES...I can't see anything moving. Even when I look into the little copper tube. Is this normal? Is there not something that moves up and down to select a different fuel level in the tank?

There was a while there when I was answer-less. But I'm okay now.

New question....how does the Petcock seal itself to the tank? With the little O-Ring there?
I re-installed everything and it was seeping gasoline. The O-Ring seemed fine. I used some Gasoline Resistant sealant to attach the Petcock to the tank and it didn't leak...but now everytime I start the bike it pours gasoline fron somewhere under the tank. I'm unsure where cause I can't start the Bike and run it AND look under the tank for where it's leaking from. I'm assuming that since it only leaks when it's running that it must be from the hose that goes from the Petcock to the Carb Line.

But would it make sense that the Seal between the Tank and the Petcock will only leak when the engine is running?
before it was leaking even before i started the engine and it was from the o-ring between the Petcock and the Tank but after I sealed that up and it wasn't leaking anymore I installed everything and it leaks now only when the bike is running. ...and it doesn't leak...it GUSHES! But only when the Bike runs.

Two things come to mind. When your engine is running, vaccum is applied at the petcock opening the valve in the petcock. Can you get a mirror in there to see? Now my far fetched theory: Was your bike sitting. Is there a chance that some of your your fuel has leaked to your crankcase (a fairly common occurance when sitting) thus over filling it? When this happens the fuel oil mix can be pumped to your airbox via breather hoses and leak all over everywhere. Either theory should be easy to dismiss or substantiate. Good luck. |

My bike sat for almost 2 weeks. It had the Tank removed the whole time so the only gas left would have been in the lines of in the carbs.
I covered and plugged up everything while the tank was off.

I'm pretty positive that it is not the seal from the tank to the petcock and it is actually the petcock itself. I had this same problem and I had to rebuild the petcock and make sure the nipple and diaphragm were in correctly.
It is leaking because once vacuum is applies it is opening up the diaphragm/nipple and since it is not seated correctly the gas is leaking out of the seams. I would suggest getting a small mirror and actually pin pointing the leak. It is hard to tell where it is leaking from when you can't really see it up close. |

I re-installed everything on Thursday. I got the little wire/spring clamps for the Fuel hose on the Petcock and streatched them so they'd be tighter on the hoses. I re-installed all the lines and It didn't leak.
