VF500 popping fuses

I have an 84 VF500 that has been having some electrical issues. I deal with most mechanical problems myself but about a month and a half ago I was having problems with the bike popping some of the fuses by the ignition lock. I cant remember which one was popping but I took it into a mechanic to have it looked at. They were able to fix the issue and when I went back the bike started up fine (multiple times) and then I came back a couple days later to pick it up. The bike started up perfectly and then I rode it home with no issues. Now I was in the process of moving and had to store the bike and 3 weeks later I went back to start the bike up and stretch her legs only to discover that when I pressed the starter button I heard a pop and all electrics died. Long story short...all the fuses up top were fine but the 15amp fuse next to the start solenoid had blown. I replaced it and it blew again. I even tried a 20amp fuse with no luck.

Does any one have any advice/things to look for before I take it back to the mechanic?

Check in the starter switch assembly. You may have some worn/shorted wires in there.
