TRAC system knob
On my '86 VFR700F2 the TRAC system knob on the forks no longer shows the numbers 1-4 . There is a raised arrow like spot on the knob and an arrow on the fork tube. Would the one on the knob correspond to the # 1 setting ? If so do I turn clockwise or counterclockwise to get to # 2 setting ?
Thanks |

Hello mate, just checked on mine for you.
The numbers from 1 - 4 go anti clockwise, therefore if you are at position No. 1 you will turn the knob clockwise to get to setting No. 2. Hope this helps & also there is a small dimple on the face of the knob (where the sticker was/is), this I think is relative to position 1 but not 100 % sure, you may have to do some trial n error. Remember position No.1 has the least anti dive effect while position No. 4 has the greatest. |

so im curious, how does this adjustment help handling (like how does it feel different, what would one look for to judge where to set this)?

ok so does that mean that set on 1, the front end would be all soft and mushy under braking and dive really hard with 4 being the least forgiving setting, or would it be vise-versa?
also, the knob on mine doesnt seem to have stops on it, so it will just spin around and around (though it will sit in either of the 4 positions...theres just no lock-to-lock type of turning to it) is this normal, or is something broke on this?

statistically, about 85% of the '86 VFRs ( and '87 ) i've seen have the dial set on #3

1 is soft 4 is hard. I'm a big boy I have mine set at 4. Only comes in to play when your on the brakes. Still needs stiffer springs.(winter project)

Progressive ( brand) springs do wonders for the front end., but their recommendations for spacer length may be incorrect......
