ok who has the trick tunes on their bike?

I am looking for a small amp/stereo and speakers that has FM and a way to plug in the ipod. I was thinking about mounting the speakers on the flat littler filler pads between the fairing and gas tank. Maybe even mounting the amp/stereo there too. I see they make quite a few different ones and was hoping someone here has found a good set-up. I see they make a bracket that holds the ipod and mounts to just about anywhere. Maybe a mini amplified subwoofer under the seat?

Ya know, I find it hilarious when I see a motorcyclist cruising down the road blaring music thru their speakers....makes me think of my pops when he had his wind jammer fairing with speakers in it looooooooooong ago! hahaha

Hey I had a wind jammer with stereo on my first bike back in 1982, it was a 1980 Honda CB900 Custom. I took it off after a while because it wasn't cool. Now I'm old enough to not care about being cool and just do what I want.
Sounds like I'm lucky to still be alive after riding with a stereo and riding all these years while listening to music. I believe I am smart enough to know the level of distractions I can safely handle. If not, I'll just be another statistic that makes you "safe" guys look bad.
So far, I like the looks of this set up. DWG<trade>Waterproof stereo audio speaker with mini external amplifier for motorcycles, motorbikes scooters, jet skis, snowmobiles, golf carts,marine grade.
I have an 80 mile commute to work and it sure is nice to have a little bit of background music and the ability to get a traffic update.

I have a MP3 player from Wal-Mart, holds up to 300 songs and has an Am/Fm radio, that works pretty well. I just plug in my ear phones and listen. That might be a simple way to go. How well do you expect to hear the speakers with your helmet face shield closed? But if you can make your idea work, more power to you.

That is what I find so funny about when my dad had his WindJammer....he would turn on the street and you could hear him blasting "Take those old records off the shelf, I'll sit and listen to them by myself, today's music ain't got the same soul, I like that old kinda rock'n'roll! (love Bob Seger by the way).....in fact, the entire neighborhood could hear him coming...so funny to think of those days. WindJammers remind me of "Prince, and Purple Rain"....i'd almost like to have one just to ride around for fun...hahaha

Yea i got the mp3 thing and the ipod, but i don't like earphones. I rented a Harley out in California last year and it had the stereo mounted in the fairing. You didn't have to turn it all the way up to hear it. I was actually amazed at how well you could hear it down low, even at highway speeds. When we were in town or in the city, I had it turned down so I was the only one that could hear it. When we were just hanging out in a parking lot or wherever, I had it turned on just enough to hear it. I know the windshield held back alot of wind noise, but I think my helmet does a good job at that too. Trust me, I am the last person that would blare my music for everyone to hear. It makes my skin crawl when I'm at an intersection or gas station and some idiot doesn't have enough respect for others around him to turn down his stereo so we don't all have to listen to his BOOOOMBOOBOOBOOOOM crap.

I have a few ideas that would work for a stereo on the bike but haven't implemented any yet. I'd be more likely to install a Tom Tom or a Valentine One first; possibly both. For now I have a Joe Rocket Manta tank bag that is magnetic and small. It will fit a decent amount in it; a couple Rockstar's, wallet, cell phone, rain cover for bag and a few other small things. There is a top pocket on the bag with a see thru window made for phones but will amply fit my 80GB iPod. I've been riding with the iPod in there lately. Not easy to change the volume but put play the songs on Shuffle All and you can rather easily click thru them. The volume issue could easily be remedied with a set of phones that have a built in volume control; several models out there are available.

I'm going to take off tomorrow for Oklahoma from Pennsylvania. I am actually putting my Sirius receiver in the map pocket of my tank bag. The antenna is magnetic and will stick to the tank. Broadcast over FM to a Toshiba Gigabeat mp3 player.

Nice. I'd love to have a set of wireless/Bluetooth ear buds for my iPod but only the head phones are available (that I know of) and those don't exactly fit under ones helmet easily.

Dainese actually makes a Bluetooth helmet that can connect to phones and mp3 players now. It's prolly like 900$ though :P.

The setup I usually rock is either my iPod with soft gel earbuds, or I actually rigged a wiring clip that hooks up to my Sirius unit that I keep in my magnetic tank bag. It works great, as I can plug earphones right into the Sirius unit. The only problem comes when I want to change the station lol.

What you might want to check out is some helmet speakers. I don't know if any motorcycle helmet manufacturers make them other than HJC, but you might be able to fit the ones they use in Ski/Snowboarding helmets. That way you don't have to stick uncomfortable pieces of plastic right in your lobes.
