84 vf700f 2hnd and 3rd gear problems

hey everyone i'm new here looking to see if i can get some advise
i got ahold of a 1984 vf700f for free i've spent a few hundred dollars and got it running real nice, starts right up, no leaks, or anything like that, it runs almost like a new bike BUT after having on the road when i shift into 2nd gear there is nothing like i shifted into neutral, and 3rd is realy jagged like it catches then drops catches and drops..ect 1st,4th,5th gear work perfectly fine

looking to get some advise as to what the problem is and if i can fix it in a home garage i have just about every tool avalable to me,and am experenced in auto repair just new to bikes, and advise and help is greatly appreciated
