1986 VFR 750 restoration "HELP"
Hi People...
I'm new here, and to VFR's. I bought a banged up vfr 750 (RC24) I was an import i got it with 21000 KM on the clock. Ive stripped, and repaired almost all of the fairings, and am getting to the point of purchasing paint. I want to restore it to original specs, and can not for the life of me figure out what the original color scheme should be. It was pearl white when i got it, and when i search for paint codes, i find about 4 different pearl whites for these bikes, then i stumbled upon a page on wiki which says that they were only ever made in the red blue & white color. can someone please advise me, i will be eternally grateful! |

Go to colorrite web site they should list the correct paint for your bike OR NOT. I just checked and can't find the pearl white. I know they made them in 87 pearl white but just not listed. maybe someone else knows more, good luck and welcome to the forum/

Welcome to the forum just a heads up www.cbdecals.afegraphics.com/ carries all of our RWB stickers and other little items and are good quality.
Also the only pieces that are not all white are the tank cowl and fender. Both the tank and cowl have blue and the fender is all red. All other colors are stickers.

Yup just a decal here is a picture of all the decals. You could easily hide the point where the blue meets the white under the sticker. I think the full kit bellow is about $220 + shipping so not too bad.

Go back and search the forum for paint codes. Here's one suggestion: Don't buy paint until you get the decals. If you're really serious about getting the right paint colors you have to examine the decals first because those decal colors can be off.. Here's another: be prepared to spend a bunch of $$$ if you want PPG paint with true candy colors like on the original bike. See if you can find a motorcycle painter that has a bunch of paint already, maybe he can find a good match with what he has on hand.

As long as your sure it's an 86 750 the base color would be Glacier White the blue is Candy Azure Blue and i don't remember the Red. In 86 the 700 was available in both Red/ White /Blue and in limited numbers Pearl White. Any chance you've looked under the seat right over the inner fender? There is a black plastic tab that holds the owners manual in place. That tab has the paint codes attatched. On my Red/White/Blue 750 the only codes i saw were NH138 and NH138H. Most modern paint shops can duplicate the paint with the right paint code or a piece with the right color to be matched.

sorry , I stand corrected. i just found a post on page 3 of the 2nd gen forum that deals with this very issue. Vfr750 paints are Shasta White NH138 Fighting Red R134 and Candy Aluetian Blue PB127MU. Post is dated 05/13/08.I would refer back to that for more info.
