Painting engine?

Does anyone have suggestions on painting engine covers on '87 700f2? Don't know if heat is to much for clear coat?

I know I have seen engine paint before, maybe not in clear but in black, red and yellow. There could be clear coat. Try your local auto parts place, comes in a spray can. And yes it is special paint to withstand the heat, or at least it is labled as special.

i uesed BBQ grill paint on my motor and it has never came off . I even put it on my pipes.

Thanks fellas, never thought about bar-b-q paint but I did use high temp just wanted to protect it should it not get hot enough to cook on.

Your local auto parts should have a selection of engine specific paint that will cure at normal engine temps. I think it's a little more resistant to chemicals than BBQ paint. I painted my '85 engine with this, I think the brand was POR.

I have had great success with the hi-temp engine paint on several motors. It is VERY high gloss already and does not need to be clear coated.

I would say that it is as glossy as the OEM Honda engine paint.

If the cases aren't scratched, try some S100 Engine Brightener first. It's the shizzle.
