Yes! Another exhaust thread

So after reading old posts and threads regarding aftermarket exhaust for the VF500, and after searching everyday for an Aftermarket exhaust on Ebay and finding NOTHING....I have 2 questions:

1. a) Can I just get 2 Slip-ons made for a similar cc bike and have them custom installed by myself or some Muffler shop?
b) ...and will this require rejetting of the carbs?

2. a) I read about drilling around the main exhaust hole in the can to increase sound...will this hurt performance?
b) Will this also require rejetting?

I just want to have a little more sound from the bike to make myself known in traffic.

1a) Yes, this can be done. VTR1000F, RC51 or CBR1100XX pipes seem to fit without a terrible amount of "customization".

1b) Probably, and you should also expect a performance decrease, all slip-ons cause a power loss on the early VF's.

2a-b) I probably wouldn't bother, this sounds like crap IMHO.

Really, exhaust note only tells people you just went by not that your coming up, so I don't believe it helps much. With that said, if you can get a throatier sound and you improve the modern look of the bike, I'd do it.

Well no sound is worth decreasing performance.

Thanks for the info.

I don't think Matt had a decrease in performance, but Jamie is a guru.

Contact "timmythecop" on vfrd......

He's posted that he has a pipe for a vf500f before. I think he said it was a V&H pipe.

Might be sold though.

Finding a pipe for the miniceptor takes time and patience, but one will eventually turn up. It could be months, or even years, but one will turn up. You also have to be prepared to crack your wallet open pretty wide.....

I was fortunate enough to find a couple Hindle pipes for my vf750f on ebay. SOme useable, some rotted thorough. Good for templates though.

The stuff is out there, you just have to be patient.

Or, these guys might make one for you, but the exchange rate will probably kill ya:

Don't know much about them though...

Oh, one more thing:

Don't go punching holes in the muffler. That's just so........well..........for lack of a better word.............."ricer".

Well I've been looking for 2 years now. I did see a Yorishima(sp?) Slip ons for the VF500 but they were over $200US!!! ...that was the first and last time I saw undamaged aftermarket exhaust on Ebay.

What is VFRD?

Yea...I just have soooo many spare VF500 cans that I figured I could try modifying one. Oh well...Maybe I'll just coat the set with the least mileage on them and leave it at that.

Yes, it's getting more and more difficult all the time. What used to take months now takes years. It can be frustrating, as you've found out.

It was such a PITA to Re&Re the exhaust I wouldn't even think about installing an aftermarket system.

Found it:

ISC150 HONDA VF 500 4/1
IMPIANTO DI SCARICO COMPLETO DISPONIBILE IN VERSIONE STRADALE DA 95 DB O CORSA DA 105 DB CON SILENZIATORE ALLUMINIO - CARBONIO ROTONDO D.E. 100

Babblefish translation:

ISC150 HONDA VF 500 4/1 SYSTEM OF COMPLETE DRAINAGE AVAILABLE IN VERSION STREET FROM 95 DB OR RUN FROM 105 DB WITH NOISE SUPPRESSOR ALUMINUM - ROUND CARBON D.E. 100

What's that currency?

If it's 580 Euros that puts the price well over $900

I recently got F1R Slip-ons and I'm enjoying the sound and all the little exhaust snap, crackle, and Pops.
