Where to buy rebuild parts

where are you guys buying you rebiuld kits. looking for complete engine gasket kit.
Also rebuilding all calipers and master cylinders. those are on ebay but you find any cheaper?

The problem with OEM dealers is the extra charge for shipping. If you are going to buy from OEM dealers, you have to consider the differences between their respective shipping costs up front. They are going to add on some charges to your bill. Some make more of a profit on shipping than others. I find the shipping costs are usually overbearing. Therefore, you need to throughly think out what you want for that one cycle you have in the garage and plan on ordering everything you will need on one order so you spread the shipping cost over a large order. If you are hit and missing what you need and going back to the well to order just a few things you forgot, then the shipping is going to kill you.

If you watch the "Goggle adds" that are placed at the top of the home page you will see little adds that claim this that and the other. Some of the adds claim to be the cheapest OEM dealers. I have to say that I have found the there is some truth in the claims of the OEM's that say they are cheaper. There is a lot of variation in the discount you can find if you search. After a while you will find that there is what you might consider to be the "standard OEM price" that will be repeated by many different OEM dealers, especially the Honda show room type of OEM sellers, and then there's a sub set of price undercutters who make a business out of strictly selling OEM parts. Two of these price cutting OEM dealers are "CheapCycleParts.com/honda", and "Cyclepartswarehouse.com" But don't take my word for it, check their prices against the typical OEM sellers. Its always best to hit more than one OEM dealer and compare price. After a while you will find those OEM dealers who consistently give you a good price reduction.

Then there are the accessory dealers. They have another story to tell. You have to hunt out consistent low price sellers of accessories as well.

Then, if you search the net (google) for low cost Honda parts you might come onto a place out of canada that is sort of a pirate outfit. In the States there has to be some sort of unwritten code against seeking out third party sources for parts. But in Canada that code does not apply. So there is this parts source that does not sell "OEM parts" but does sell stuff that was probably made by a factory in Japan that supplied Honda with what they stamped as OEM: PartsnMore.com. They only sell what they can find on the open market for certain "classic japanese motorcycles". these include the early VF models. You have to know what you want and what it crosses with before you buy. Some of the early VF stuff will work on VFR stuff. You can find it for considerably less on PartsnMore.com. But if you buy it and it does not match then you are stuck. They don't make returns easy. They expect you to know what you want and whether it will fit up front. No cry babies. SO you can buy a complete gasket set for a VF 750 motor for less than $100 that was manufactured in Europe for that market. If the gaskets will fit a VFR 750 is up to you to know. They sell a limited line of parts, but shipping is only $5.00 for any order over $35. If you want fairly commonplace parts that normally require replacement over time then check them out. They sell M/C kits for $20 and brake pads for $10 and $12. But you have to know whether it fits or not.

What size bike, I have the rear master cyl, w/ calipers and lines still all hooked up, ready to go off a 86 500. Plus front calipers also

Be careful about partsnmore, I bought more than a few parts from them for my cb750 and some parts are total Taiwainese junk and some are decent- it is hit and miss with their stuff.

You will save $$$ though

I've had good luck with partsnmore's gasket sets. I used one this summer to put a VF500F motor back together.

Try and go with the OEM Honda stuff if you can or if Cometic makes gasket sets for your bike those are supposed to be pretty good.

Sorry bike is 86 vf1000r. Not looking for factory stuff as seems hard to get rebuild kits and , without buying all parts individually when you can there twice the price. cometic does not make a gasket set for my bike. K&L makes all the master and clutch kits but cant find a good dealer for them-besides ebay.

cometic makes gaskets for everything you'll have to call and ask them about it.
