clutch slipping. slave cylinder not retracting
Ok here is it 86 VFR700F 8800 miles. Clutch seems to be slipping.
I install a new clutch. Test drive and the clutch is still slipping. Inspect the slave cylinder and the plunger is extending too far. Crack the bleed valve, push the plunger in. Test drive solid clutch hook up doing wheelies.. but 30 miles later the clutch is slipping again limp home look at the slave cylinder and the plunger is out too far again. What the heck. thanks |

I would also be interested in any info anyone can provide. I have an '86 500 that the cluth hydraulics don't seem to do anything at all. I have bled the line, but the clutch is just a dead lever.

On my 500, I had to rebuild the slave cyclinder. Someone gave me a link to a slave cylinder rebuild kit on ebay for a good price. It was an easy fix and then bled the clutch and voila, I had a working clutch...I had never done it before, but it was not bad at all.

In the master cylinder there are two holes 1 feed and 1 return, if the return hole gets partially blocked it can cause the symptoms you describe as the cylinder stays partially pressurised

Just an FYI, overfilling the reservoir can cause the same symptoms on both the brake and clutch systems.
