Michelins in the rain
I rode 25 miles yesterday afternoon in rain that was coming down in Biblical proportions. CARS were pulling over. I was running at pretty much the posted speed limit and trying to maintain distance from the cagers in case I went down, which seemed possible, and perhaps likely. I raised a toast to my Michelin Pilots when I arrived safely home. Michelins definitely stick well in the rain.

Ordering a set of Pilot Road 2's tomorrow so happens. My second set of skins are Dunlop Sportmax Touring. I am not un-impressed but the front did cup more than I am prepared to accept. They did better than the original Dunlops but none the less, they did cup. The rear was good but has worn flat so nee new ones. Might as well change both. I did get close to 30,000 KM out of them (You southerners do the math) So I guess I should not complain too much. Stability in the rain is a huge issue for me given my year round commute on the freeway on the Wet Coast here so this was a really good forum to see.

Got a set of Pilot Road 2's couple of weeks ago my self. +1 on riding in the wet stuff, we actually had rain last couple of days and I was impressed.
Crgvfr - a lot of guys that like the PP's are going with a Pilot Power in front and a Road in back. Action Road 2 compounds

I need a good all around set of tires.....i will be purchasing next week and am tryin to do as much research as possible to get the perfect set for me...anythings gotta be better than the stock dunlops....i ride everday rain or shine and i really need somethin good in the rain and in the twistys...and the last thing i want is to lay my precious viffer down in a turn because of a crappy tire......I have heard alot about the michelin pp but not so much about the road 2

Rode in the mother of all rainstorms last summer...howling wind and hail included.
Found myself tailing a highway rig just to follow his tail lights so I knew (hoped) we were on the road. Cars were pulled over and I thought about pulling over too,but I didn't want to become a hood ornament,as visibility was near zero. Anyway....DEEP water on highway and the Z6's carved through and found the pavement pretty un-eventfully. My confidence in the rain rose considerably that day!!! |

The PR2's harder centre compound is precisely why I have decided on them for the type most of my riding is. I sure hope I am not disappointed. The good thing is though that if they are not, I am only getting a year out of a set due to the high mileage I put on commuting.
