Joe Rocket Interceptor or VFR Jacket?

Hey Guys:

I'm looking a buying a jacket for "cooler" (ie. fall/spring) riding here in UT. The bike will be put away for the winter. A couple of jackets that have caught my eye are the Joe Rocket Interceptor and VFR models. Has anyone done a comparision between these two? Pros/Cons?

My local dealer has an Interceptor jacket but no VFR. Any other similar jackets you all would recommend. I plan on buying a Joe Rocket Phoenix 5.0 jacket next year for warmer weather.

Thanks in advance,

TheMoz

I don't have any specific info for you those 2 jackets but I will encourage you to visit New Enough.com

They do buyouts etc and usually have a nice selection of Joe Rocket jackets at great prices. I just ordered 1 this week.
Their excellent review with detailed pics might help you in your decision.

Good luck!

OK, i took the long way home tonight on my bike and stopped by a shop that sells "other manufacturers" motorycles.

They carry Cortech by Tour Master. They had a jacket it was either the GX Air or GX Air Series 2, don't remember which- it seemed like a nice jacket and comparable to the Joe Rocket Interceptor. It did have alot of velcro that kept sticking to other pieces of velcro at inopportune times.

Anyone care to comment? Quality difference between the two jacket manufacturers? Both jackets seem to be the same price.

Dooohhh. Search and ye shall find>>>>>>>>[LINK]Anyone own a Cortech GX Air 2 Jacket?

The GX Air isn't for cooler weather. The GX Sport 2 is. I have one of each.

If you're looking for cooler weather, look no further than the Tourmaster Transition. I considered the VFR & the Interceptor jackets & the Tourmaster is better than both. If you want one of the best textile jackets on the planets & are willing to pay for it, look at the First Gear Kilamanjaro.

I'm tired of JR zippers jamming or breaking on the current stuff. My old alter-ego jacket is fine, but my newer pants are a bitch.

Tourmaster jacket, zero issues. Check out their mesh stuff. See if it fits well.

OK, so i ended up buying a new Cortech GX-Sport off from flea-bay. Its the previous model not the version 2. Great seller and price, if anyone is looking for the same jacket ping me and ill provide her info.

I'll wear this jacket until it gets hotter next spring/summer then I think i'll pick up the GX-Air.

Thanks for all the input. Very Helpful!

I fully agree on the Kilamanjaro by First Gear. I've had mine for years and no zipper problems, lots of storage, and has removable liner too. When it wears out, I'm buying another.

I agree with Slo on the zipper issues with the newer Rocket stuff. I had a sleeve zipper just zip right off in my hand on one of the new Phoenix jackets. But never had any issues out of the older JR stuff I've had. Like anybody I'm sure they are cutting corners any where they can! Too bad.

OK Guys, I've had a chance to take my Cortech GX-Sport Jacket on a couple of 2 hour rides starting in the valley and through mountains. It gets 5 stars from me. Great in warmer temps with the vents open and snug as a bug in the cooler altitudes all closed up. Plenty of pockets for storage, fits well, very adjustable, good overall jacket.. it was a great recommendation... thanks again for the help. I'd definately buy one again.

In fact, After things start to warm up next spring I plan to pick up the GX-Air for summer riding.

Now on to choosing gloves... The Cortech Vice or Accelerators look good....
