    Runnerhiker,

Is your FJR's cruise control a factory-installed option? If so (as I wrote when I discussed my previous 2007 BMW K1200GT's optional factory-installed cruise control), an aftermarket electronic CC is less than ideal compared with a factory installed CC, but in my opinion it's still far better than a throttle lock.

Again, my aftermarket CC works quite well. It just took a little getting used to, and I would not like being without it.

The cruise on my FjR is from a company in Australia, called Motorcycle Cruise Control, I installed it myself. My previous bike was a '04 BMW K 1200 RS with factory CC, I loved it and now I have to have elec CC. The MC CC installation makes it very important to not have slack in the throttle cable, mine picks up the throttle as soon as I press the "set" button. If you have slack on the cable, the servo must take up this slack before it takes over the speed.

I've been using that model for close to 20 years with little trouble. If you install one, you'll need to trim it a bit at the throttle tab to fit well. The thumb "button" will need to be trimmed too or it will hit your tank at full right...
Yes, I'm crazy but I'd have to be nuts to admit it...

I have the above pictured Vista Cruise, it fits perfectly on my 04 w/ a little bit o work with the dremel tool. I actually just installed mine a month ago, best $25 i've ever spent. after the custom work on mine it functions slick as glass and locks perfectly, the trimmed lever on mine looks like it was made that way w/ some polish.
I can post a pic if you like. I just put 600 miles on it, and don't know how i lived without it.

Just installed the Throttlemeister... it took maybe 20 minutes to install. I've gotta say; this is one well-made throttle lock! As long as it does what it's designed to do; which this product certainly does with absolute precision - then I'm good to go!

I have an FJR with a MC Cruise control, it is a sophisticated, electronic, vacuum servo motor unit from a company in Australia. It is expensive, $700, and a complicated installation. But I would do it again in a second. For all day rides and multi day rides, electronic CC is the way to go. They make one for the VFR but I have not installed it since I use my FJR for long trips.

I am considering buying the Throtlemeister for the VFR.

What he said, MC Cruise has it all over any of the throttle locks, works soooo much better.

If you decide to buy the NEP version like mine make sure to get the single cable model made for Yamaha since it is the only one that doesn't require modifcation for use with the VFR.

    Happy riding!!

My bike came with both-Throttlemeister and NEP. I prefer the NEP because it is easier for me to cativate than the Throttlemeister.
This is the one that I bought. i will say that it feels a bit clunky. When you set it it slows down a little. I might have it a bit loose however.

That said, I am very happy with it, easy install and you can adjust and tweak your speed which is valuable to me.

    I like it.
