I wear a Fulmer and it does ok. It's comfortable and all but has vents in the top that make whistling sounds when I reach about 75mph. I would stick to something basic like you said, or one in which the entire face shield lifts up to expose your face. Those look cool.

    Krj

I went with the Arai KRJ as it was the least offensive....The new helmets suck for design.....they are worse than awful .....and they want money for them to.......insult to injury.

Arai fullface......... is about as quite as they get(not that there aren't other brands)...... I use a flip-up full-face, which is noisier...... But I like it anyway for other reasons..... One thing though, no matter what I wear I use Earplugs..... John

Shoei RF 1000. They are quiet and very clean in the air. The plain ones are not that expensive and well worth the money.

After reading ton of material on Helmets I bought scorpion 700 EXO
both DOT and Snell approved.Great comfortable for 150 helmet.
I tried it at dealer $195 but got the same helmet online for 150. EXO400 is solid as well and you can get for 99 close out sales.
Scorpion helmets are popular with track racers since they are great value and money left can be spent on tires etc.
If you are like me middle class with ton of bills, kids etc then why would you spend 550+on a helmet when 99 will do and provide 90% performance.

I just got an exo-1000 mainly because I wanted the flip down sunshield and it seems to be a quality helmet available in a simple plain styling. However it tends to whistle more than a referee at the superbowl. I do love the flip down sunshield feature and it is easy to flip it up and down as needed.

after reading about wind noise and helmets it seems it is the windscreen that makes all the noise you hear not the helmet.
Next time you are out try standing up on the bike and put the helmet in the clean air = 90% less noise.

Also close the vents on highway since you are going fast anyway and you don't need all the vents open

I recently bought a Sy-Max 2. For a full flip up, it's fairly quiet. Plus it has the internal flip down sun visor so it doesn't have the whistle the exo-1000 gets. And it comes in pearl white. :)

Only two compaints about the helmet is the internal visor isn't dark enough, but works well when I changed the outer visor from clear to light smoke. Second is that if I put the helmet on with the chin guard down, I tend to catch the tip of my nose. Once it's on though, it's very comfortable. I haven't had it in the 100+ heat to see how well it vents yet.

I like a good helmet that is not heavy with good ventilation (for fogging) and low noise (does not sound like I am in a wind tunnel). I like and have used the Scorpion: kinda heavy, good fit and ventilation and very very little fogging, Nolan: nice flip-up helmet but very heavy and noisy. Also lousy ventilation and fogs up all the time, HJC: sorry but they make some really chessy cheap helmets for my tastes, AGV: another good sport bike product producing company but the only helmet they make I like is the TiTech. Kinda cheap looking and feeling helmets but good fit, good ventilation and little to no fogging. This is in reference to the AGV Migilia (makes creeking sounds when lifted and feels cheap but fits really good and great visor) I still currently use it from time to time, GMax: affordable and made well, does not feel or look cheap. I have the GM68 with the battery operated lights on top which is really neat and helpful at night. Great ventilation with little fogging and low noise for a helmet at its price - highly recommend this as a good helmet or an excellent second or passenger helmet. I really like the Shark helmets but have never owned one and also like the Arai helmets but have not owned any of those either. Good luck with your choice - go to the local dealers and try on some helmets and find the right fit if you plan to order online to save some cash.
